Aeris Gainsborough A seemingly innocent, but deeply mysterious woman, Aeris Gainsborough is drawn into the conflict between Avalanche and the Shin-Ra when Cloud, falling from a Mako reactor in Midgar, crashes through the roof of her local church. Orphaned when her mother died at the train station in Midgar, she was brough up by Mrs. Gainsborough. A caring lady, she soon discovered Aeris had strange powers, even though she did her best to hide them. These included comforting her step mother for the death of her husband in the war... several days before the notice of death arrived. The Shin-Ra have a keen interest in her... they believe her to be the last remaining Ancient, a species long thought to be extinct, who are very close to and can communicate with the planet itself. They believe Aeris will lead them to the Promised Land, a land rich in energy for them to mine. Aeris has an understanding of the planet all her own, and believes she has a way to stop Sephiroth from destroying all. However, her life is dramatically cut short in the City of the Ancients. |
