It had only been two weeks before that he had taken two typhoid shots. He and Danny Twichell went to the water fountain to take their vitamins. They got in a line and took a typhoid shot. Then, when their grade went to get their shots, Mike and Danny took another one. They knew they were supposed to get three, but they didn't know they were supposed to be a week apart. The teacher, Mrs. Chandler, was really upset. The boys tried to tell her they had already had one of their shots but she wouldn't let them talk. Michael told me she said they would talk about it when they got back to the room. They were in a hurry! After all, they were only six years old and had only been in school a few months. When they got to the nurse that was giving the shots, they presented their right arms because they took the shots in their left ones. The nurse didn't have a clue. All she saw was another arm. Michael said they wouldn't let them take another one! So, he began to have chills and the teacher called Jimmy to come to the school house after him. I was at work and had a phone. So, he called and told me about it. Mrs. Twichell had already called Dr. Freeman before I got home. He survived. So did I! He didn't take one the next week. Then the tetanus shot. Poor Dr. Freeman had to be called again to see if he could take his third typhoid shot the week after the tetanus shot. He did have it. So all the shots were taken care of.
