LaSolDeLeo's Spirituality

This page will be short and will be updated and added to frequently. At this point in my life I'm exploring my spirituality more. The first thing that should be understood is that spirituality is not religion. They are separate issues, but both ultimately meaning a set of beliefs or faiths.

I do not believe in any one religion. I was raised Southern Baptist, I suppose. I stopped going to church when I was about 6, my father never went. Religion wasn't a priority in our household and I'm extremely thankful for that. I would rather the issue of God or heaven and hell be avoided completely with a child, than have that child spoon-fed and "god-fearing". I am sure my mom still prays and I'm sure my dad does not, but they both know I am not Christian.

My personal beliefs
I believe in reincarnation and I believe in a "higher" power. Whether that's the Christian God, Ra the Egyptian Sun God, Zeus from Greek Mythology or the old man that sits on the street corner, I don't know. I don't believe fully in evolution, though animals do adapt to surroundings, so it is entirely possible. If the theory of evolution is correct, I don't believe it was by chance. It had to be by someone's power, someone's doing.

I believe in soul mates and I believe in having known people before. I think every lifetime has certain main characters (souls) that will be with you, in different forms, like a chess set of people playing different parts each time. Someone who's my best friend this life may have been an enemy last time, or may have been a lover, but if I feel that I have known them before, chances are, they're part of my "set".  I believe every lifetime is also influenced by those whom I will not see again, ever. These are the people whom you get into an accident with, those who accidentally spill wine on that precious white dress, people who you may even become friends with but only for a short amount of time. These are things that influence my life, but also what the saying "in a hundred years, who will care?", was designed for. These are things and people, who pass, leaving a small memory.

I believe that, in the beginning the "higher" power created a few souls and set out to make us perfect replicas of him/herself. I believe that He/She thought about the lessons and qualities one would have to have, in order to be a flawless reflection and created something like a "goals" or "life lessons" list.

When a body dies, the soul goes to a judgement place and everything that you know (as far as life lessons, not that an uncle's truck is missing a back break light) is gathered and recorded. The soul is given a little rest and relaxation time and when it's cleansed and refreshed, it goes back.

I don't believe that the millions or billions of people on Earth all have souls. I've met many people who are shells. These are the people that I talked about before, and the people who are only here to influence those with souls.

I believe that every soul has the same goals to accomplish. Things like learning patience, figuring out just how much is enough pride and where the line is when it becomes too much, confidence in one's self, worldly and scholarly intelligence and also simple things like how to value friends, how to love an animal, how to let someone else win and how to forgive those who wrong you. I believe that life lessons are carried within the soul and serve to make a better person next time around.

I suppose I should end with some grandiose explanation of what happens once all the life lessons are learned, but that knowledge I don't have. All of the ideas said here are simply my beliefs and what makes up my spirituality. Maybe I have been enlightened to the plan or the goals, but not the reasons or the complete agenda.

This is my spirituality and my beliefs, my faith. Do you have a comment or would you like to talk about your personal spirituality? E-mail me. (please note: all contacts who try to convert me for their little "good Christian" badge or those who would like to simply "prove" to me that my beliefs are wrong, don't waste my time or yours by writing me. It will be deleted.) If you're interested in some of my spiritual influences, click here.
