my site... I MEAN... in order to have you enjoying life a little bit more
and even save you a few bucks, which I think we all want to do. So
I'm basically going to tell you what I think is good solid entertainment
so you can go see that as opposed to what is being advertised the most

Ok, we're going to get in trouble for this one.
This song does not mean that Kevin thinks all Germans are or were Nazis.
This song also does not mean Kevin thinks the Nazi rule was a humorous

song is about post Nazi Germany. So if you want to sue us, just remember...

things you probably wouldn't watch like Wolf Blitzer Reports and
Alan

GAMES
NINTENDO GAME CUBE
"B-"
We recently got a NINTENDO Game Cube in our
home. Was it worth it? Yes, but is wasn't my money. But
no, I don't believe the NINTENDO Game Cube is worth the heavy price tag
if you are looking for an upgrade from the N64. Yes, the graphics
are noticeably better, same with sound. The controllers are a lot
lighter but there are some buttons that I just can't get used to.
The new cartridges are minidisks. But why
have minidisks when you can have a built in DVD player like the PSII or
have normal sized discs with twice as much space as the minidisk?
From what I have seen, the new system is much
more challenging than the N64. Why, I think it is because they CAN
be. This Game Cube unit seems to have few technological flaws other
than you still have to BUY a memory pack and there are occasional slow
load up times. Though some graphics are better than the N64, some are just
as good, but this means MORE game play.
If you have money to burn, go on out and get the
NINTENDO Game Cube with the memory pack, wires and at least one controller.
If you don't have money laying around like that though, don't get it YET.
The price will come down in a few months, and If you had N64 for 6 years
like me, a few months isn't going to kill you.
Number of Times Taken in for Repairs: 2
Microsoft's COMBAT FLIGHT SIMULATOR
European Theater
Awesome games, if it weren't for Microsoft making this set, I would
still be flying Flight Simulator 2000 around pretending to be a combat
pilot in a dogfight.
Basically, you are a Fighter Pilot in WWII. You defend can be
either the Nazi Luftwaffe, British Royal Air Force defending England from
the enemy, or US Army Air Force infiltrating Germany in the skies as you
turn the tide of the war. If you are familiar with FS, you are all
set to fly. If you are new to this, look at it this way, when you
are comfortable with this CFS, you will be set to fly FS.
Another cool thing about this game is that if your mission is a failure,
it is recorded as a failure and time moves on. No matter what, Britain
cannot fall, Germany will die, and the Americans will win the war.
Pacific Theater
The style of this game is much different than it's European
Counterpart. It is a cartoon comic deal. The actual flight
simulator and battle scenes are the same as you would expect to find with
any Microsoft Flight Simulation. But the story is told through a comic
strip and I really miss the old realistic version more. I haven't played
as the Japs and if there is a way to be British, I haven't played them
yet either. But I doubt America will fall to the Japs, the American side
seemed very accurate to history. It also gave several famous battles
to fight in whereas most famous European battles are land battles.
Other Games
LUIGI'S MANSION
"C+"
Oh my God, this was the biggest waste of time
and money ever. Erin and I wanted a game with a plot and this was
a weak excuse for one. The major boss is King Boo, the ghost.
But the problem is that they say Bowser or Koopa(from the NES days) has
actually been killed in Mario 64. Yeah, if that's not enough - there
is no jumping in this game either. The very thing that made the Mario
Brothers so famous is not even mentioned in this game. Very Sad.
Game Play was rather difficult because you find
yourself using both joysticks on the Game Cube controller, which is a mind
trip in itself. They really make you use all the buttons, which is
what Mario games have done since the Atari's Donkey Kong where Mario had
to save the Princess from DK. Maybe I'm getting too old to learn
new buttons, who knows. Game Play isn't that long either, I don't
have an accurate time frame, but it could be beaten in less than a day.
Another thing that is different about the game
is that there aren't as many bad guys. One of the things I loved
about Mario 64 is that you could run around in a 3D map and jump on 3D
bad guys. Not here though, the fastest you can go is a shuffle jog
and there is so much detail that it makes it difficult to find places to
even run in circles without circling a table.
The game is based more on puzzle solving than
anything else. Bad guys give you coins but they don't amount to free
lives or anything like that either, they get you something at the end,
but I can't tell you that because it would spoil the end. Even though
in the opinion of both Erin and myself, the ending was weak and really
sucked.
This game would have gotten a MUCH higher rating
if instead of Luigi, they used a Ghostbuster.
RAINBOW SIX
ROUGE SPEAR
Urban Operations and Black Thorn
"B"
This game is nice because it gives you a chance to kill terrorists,
something I find quite amusing. There are some problems with the game layout
itself, but it is the genre of the game that makes it that way. You
are a Special Ops team working under an International team called Rainbow.
The plot in the original game and Black Thorn is good. Urban Operations
seems more like the N64 Game, but shorter. There are a few missions
that The N64 version has that the computer doesn't and vice versa, but
the N64 Version finishes the plot while Urban Ops leaves you hanging.
The thing I don't like about this is that you are Special Ops.
I would rather be given a bunch of toys and be a solider in the heat of
battle as opposed to sneaking into buildings careful not to go and get
a hostage or 5 shot. It takes some of the fun out of the game, but
what you lose in fun, you gain in suspense. This is not a game you
want if you just want to kill people, there is killing, but it is minimal
compared to a battle field.
The makers of this game also made "Ghost Recon" for the PC. I
haven't played it yet, but from what I hear, that is a great game for war
seekers. When the price goes down on it, I'll buy it and tell you
all what I think of it.
NOTICE: I did not play the Covert Operations expansion pack. I hate
the Covert Operations and wouldn't waste my cash on it. If you are
into that sort of thing, go for it
SONIC ADVENTURE/BATTLE 2
"B+"
Wow, Sonic the Hedgehog on a Nintendo System. I honestly thought
the Sega v. Nintendo battle would last longer than 5 systems let alone
3. Oh well, if Sega wants to team up with Nintendo, fine by me, they need
more games. The game itself was awesome. Nice Special Effects,
they took a while to get used to, but still great. Now I haven't
played a Sonic Game since the Sega Genesis had that Sonic v. Knuckles add
on pack going. I was kind of surprised to see Knuckles on the light side.
The plot explains itself, so no worries if you 100% new to the blue hedgehog.
This game is FAST! It makes me realize how my parents felt when
the SNES and N64 came out, the speeds are unbelievable. I found myself
making the same mistakes 500 times because I just couldn't see the end
of a jump or a bad guy comes down out of nowhere. So this is not
a game for little kids or grandparents.
If you get a chance, look at the backdrops, i am in awe at the detail
they went to in this game. They do have racing and multiplayer as well...
Erin stinks at this game so I haven't really played with it too much, it
works awesome on the 62" TV we have downstairs though.
WARNING: This game gets boring during "Emerald Hunts" and very frustrating
at the same time. Knuckles has the most awesome attitude that might be
easily looked over Shadow the Hedgehog's evil mind and dashing accent and
it is due to the fact that Knuckles has the most boring role.
The ending was... not normal. It makes you think there is a happy ending,
yet it tells you that there will be more adventures. I'm going to
spoil the ending, sorry, but Dr. Eggman turns good at the end and gives
a really corny speech to Tails. There really are no bad guys at the end,
you all work together to save the world.
STAR WARS: ROUGE
LEADER
"A-"
Still no multi-player or Vs. options on this
update of the original for N64. There are some new features that
actually make your wing men useful so they can share the weight of the
missions. There is also a targeting computer option inside the cockpit
that allows you to see enemy craft and mission critical craft, though you
have to hold down one of the controllers odd buttons to use it making it
very difficult to fly, fire, and use this new gadget.
I noticed a HUGE improvement in the graphics and
even more in the sound. One of the best things about this game however
is the fact that they removed the lousy "V-Wing" with the one craft from
the movies that was left out, the B-Wing, a personal favorite of mine.
If you are a die hard fan like I used to be or
played any of the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter games, you will notice a few flaws
in the scripting and what different things are. But heck, your in
space shooting lasers at things with none of the gravity or wind restrictions
you get in Combat Flight Simulators.
If you want a shooting and flying game, get this!
There is actually a plot that goes along with the Lucas films. If
you would rather wait until the Star Fox for the system comes out, there
is a lot of foot fighting and not as much flying as N64 and SNES versions.
Star Wars: Rouge Leader is definitely a must have if you want to blow some
crap up.
SUPER MONKEY
BALLS
"C+"
The reason for the C+ is that I hate this game
because I can't get past a certain level. I gave up on it after my
sister beat it and rubbed it in my face.
Basically, you get to choose between four monkeys
in plastic balls and you roll around a map trying not to fall off the edge
while collecting as many bananas as you can without falling off.
There is no plot whatsoever and it was an attempt by the people of Dole
(the banana company) to make a video game.
The graphics are pretty good though I think a
lot of the stuff could have been done on the N64 - just not with the endless
numbers of levels this game seems to have.
If you want to learn how to use the controller
or want something for little kids where things aren't being killed or crashed
with violence, this is an excellent game. But be warned, though this
game is meant for little kids I think, the levels get harder and harder.
Erin and I still screw up on levels 5-10 sometimes.
SUPER SMASH BROTHERS II
"A"
I loved this game for the N64 and I have no reason
to doubt I will love it for the Game Cube. Erin and I are still trying
to get the secret characters like Dr. Mario, Jiggly Puff, Falco, and many
more. There are also new characters that have been added to the original
cast of characters like Koopa(or Bowser as the new generation calls him),
Princess Toadstool(Peach), Zelda(who has her issues and turns into Sheik
from the OoT), and the Ice Climbers.
There are beautiful new fighting areas too, but
personally, i liked the simplicity of the old ones. There is one
that takes place on "Great Fox" but goes across the wings of the ship.
The original Great Fox ship has gotten smaller however, it isn't nearly
as long as it used to be which was something I loved about it.
With the new controllers comes new moves too,
I'm not going to go through them all, but it is nice to have a little more
variety in the fights. Another something new are the countless new
items, including new Pokemon Ball things. But I think they over did
it when booze and 5 star chicken dinner meals come flying from the sky.
Game play seems a little faster than the original
concerning speed of the fighters. That took some real getting used to and
i still don't know if I have the hang of it yet. I will learn fast enough
I'm sure, especially if I want to be able to keep kicking Erin's butt in
Vs. Mode.
MOVIE REVIEWS
"Gremlins"
GREAT MOVIE! Wow. I first saw this movie when I was a toddler.
I never cared to watch it again until I saw part of it on TNT. This movie
has demented my mind more than anything else... take that back. But it
is really a great movie. You have the Mogwii named Gizmo who is bought
from a Chinatown gift store illegally and given to a teenager named Billy.
He is told the three commandments of raising a Mogwii. First, Never
feed him after midnight. Second, Never let him near water. And last, but
not least, they hate bright light and the sun will kill him. Well,
these commandments are broken and thousands of green, slimy gremlins terrorize
an entire town.
The soundtrack is awesome, a bit outdated, but awesome none the less.
Also, the puppetry is the best I have ever seen. I don't think anything
was computerized and thus the puppets gave a real life appearance to not
only the Gremlins, but also the cute Gizmo.
Take notice also that this movie has EVERYTHING. It has humor,
a cute fuzzy thing, evil monsters, horror, a dog, the Christmas Spirit,
a love story, and even some Chemistry for Rob Morgan.
Warner Brothers and Jim Henson did an awesome job with this film, send
them an E-mail telling them to make a new one.
(The second one sucks, the Gremlins run a muck in a TV Studio)

"Lord
of the Rings"
I'm going to catch flak for this one. Yes, this is a 2K movie.
Let me explain. It's long, heck, I could almost read the book in the amount
of time it took me to watch the movie. Another problem is that of the wizards'
noses. WTF, either those are some really crappy fake noses or they have
nose cancer. It was distracting beyond all belief. I'm not through yet,
Marry and Pippin are the two most annoying things I've ever come across,
and yes I've talked to Former Minister Matt Wyatt and other liberals recently.
Still not done. I still remember watching the cartoons from just days before.
The cartoons were awesome. They were just perfect, the songs, the animation,
the fact that the trilogy was almost shorter than the entire newly released
movie! Look, LotR gets 2Ks from me, for Special Effects and the awesome
classical soundtrack. If you want a trip to Middle Earth, rent the cartoons
from Blockbuster and nuke some popcorn.

"Queen
of the Damned"
Not bad and I'm not a fan of vampire movies. That's really what
this is, a modern age college girl falls for a 17th century vampire who
came from his tomb to be a hardcore death metalic rock band. Well,
he doesn't keep vampire secrets and he manages to piss off the underground
vampire network (not what it's called, don't worry). Well, the queen
of all vampires who has the hots for the rock star comes back too, only
to make him her king. She wants to kill everything on earth by the
way so that makes her the bad guy. Well, the reason that this movie
got only 3 Ks is because I don't like that death metalic rock. It
was equaled out a bit by some most excellent violining, so that leaves
me deciding between a 4 and a 5. But what did it was that Leonardo
DeCrappio or a really good look alike was in the movie as a vampire.
Now, the music I could take, but I refuse to deal with DeCrappio.

"Pi"
You'll have to rent this one from Blockbuster
because you probably won't find it anywhere else. "Pi" as in Pi·r2
is an independent film that won big at the Sundance Festival. Basically,
it's about Carl when he grows up. Not really, but pretty close.
This guy looks for patterns in everything because there is a pattern to
everything that exists. He's proven it for everything... except the
stock market. He winds up being stalked by Jewish Rabbis and a group
of men lead by a woman who looks like Condlezza Rice. It really is
an awesome movie, the only thing I didn't like about it was the ending,
but if I tell you what i didn't like about it, I would spoil the movie
for you. So I'm going to give this movie 4 out of 5 Ks.
MORE MOVIES
"Spider
Man"
I'm going to get it from some people on this one. Yes, only 3
K's. In all honesty I thought I would be giving this movie a 2K rating,
but it was better than I expected and I refuse to rate this movie lower
than 'Queen of the Damned' which had Leonardo DeCrappio in it. The film
is based on the comic book, but it was based on a late 1990s style (Batman
and Robin). I would have been thrilled if this was filmed like Dick
Tracy or the original Batman where it looks like it is taking place in
a comic book. But when you can do so much with special effects, why not
make a flashy alternative movie, right? Sometimes a classic style is best.
The outfit is nice. It works a lot better than I thought it would
in the flashy movie. Yes, it's corny, but it's nothing to the villain flying
away after a serious battle yelling, "We'll meet again Spider Man!"
I don't know if this next part was in the original script, but Spider
Man is busy saving a sky rail full of kids(which I didn't know they had
in NYC) and "the girl" in the film and the bad guy is about to kill him.
What ends up happening is a bunch of New Yorkers start throwing things
at the bad guy saying "If you mess with one of us, you mess with all of
us." That seemed like a Post 9/11 add on. But I think it's the first
time New Yorkers worked together as a team in a movie since Ghost Busters
II.
The movie's special effects seemed slow and repetitive at times, how
many ways can you see a guy dressed like Spider Man swing between skyscrapers
and still be amused? Perhaps it seemed slow because I was playing
Sonic Adventure/Battle 2 before I left.
The sound track wasn't a factor in the movie, I don't even remember
it, I'm sure there must have been one, but I didn't notice it, so clearly
it's nothing great.
The love story is, well, odd. I'll save you the ending so I don't ruin
the ending. The girl is realistically beautiful. By that I
mean, not Brittany Spears or a super model or whatever you call them, she
is you're girl next door as she is literally in the movie. It made the
movie seem MUCH more realistic. But then when you are dealing with a man
bitten by a creepy spider and turning into the Human Spider, realism isn't
really a needed part of a movie. Still, I liked her in it and she
did a great job.
Odds are 10 to 1 they make a sequel.
