Celebrating the Beauty of the African Culture Through Art Art is Good for the Spirit!
Akua'ba Three, by Rae Louise Hayward
I attended a wonderfully uplifting art show on Sunday. It was Sponsored by Harae for the Arts! The show was held at the home of one of the artists, Rae Louise Hayward. The pieces which included, Ethnographic Ceramics, sculpture, and acrylic paintings were all done by local African American artists.
Here is just a sample of some of the magnificent pieces which were on display.
Akua'ba Three, now seen in it's frame (directly behind me)
There were so many beautiful pieces that it was very hard to make a decision. Baluba Stool (to my right)
I bought this beautiful acrylic painting entitled Three Women by Rae Louise Hayward
Here are 3 of the talented artists. Rae Louise Hayward, Kelvin Curry and Atiba Sylvia Thomas (that's an 8 year old loc hanging from her head) Rae Louise was chosen Artist of the month by WomensArt.com. Not pictured is another wonderful artist who specializes in Ethnographic Ceramics, her name is Renata Gray and one of her themes is Sisterlocks! We talked about her making a piece for me soon.
