Mr. and Mrs. Ira Shutt were in Glasgow, Sunday. Mrs. John Robert Shutt returned with them after a week’s visit there.

First Lieutenant Lee Hill Batsel, brother of Mrs. John Robert Shutt, Greenville, has arrived at his new post with the United States Air Force in the Phillipines, where he has assumed the duties of jet fighter pilot and public information officer for the 44th Fighter Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Group at Clark Air Force Base, 60 miles north of Manila. Lieut. Batsel is the son of the late R.W. Batsel, Jr., former editor and publisher of The Greenville Leader, and the late Eunice Henson Batsel. Lieut. Batsel’s wife, the former Olivia Krezdorn, is presently living in Eagle Pass, Texas, with their two sons, Michael, 5, and Lee, Jr., 2. They expect to join Lieut. Batsel in the Phillipines in the near future.

Paul Henson, manager of the Kentucky Water Service Company's office in Greenville, reported that the tie-in to the W. G. Duncan Coal Company's lake on the Luzerne road would be completed within 10 days. This will increase the storage capacity of water for the city to 230,000,000 gallons. The storage capacity is now approximately 50,000,000 gallons including both the town and the Country Club lake. 7,000 feet of the 10,000-foot raw water line running from the Luzerne lake to the filter plant is now completed and a new pump installed at the lake. A new pump has been installed at the filter plant that will increase the pumping capacity to the town from 144,000 gallons every 24 hours to 360,000 gallons. a new pump has also been installed at the Country Club lake to pump into the town lake.
Captain Lee Hill Batsel, brother of Mrs. John Robert Shutt, Greenville, who has completed several combat missions over Korea, has returned to his former duty assignment with the 44th Fighter Bomber Squadron, Phillipines Command Force (Air Force) and Thirteenth Air Force on Clark Air Force Base in central Luzon. Captain Batsel left the Phillipines base early in November to perform a vital part in the United States Armed Forces' effort to assist the United Nations in restoring peace to Korea. For service performed in this area, Captain Batsel was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Korean Service Medal. A graduate of Bremen High School and Western Kentucky State College, Captain Batsel also attended and taught at the Air Force Pilot School in Texas. Captain Batsel's wife, Mrs. Olivia K. Batsel, and their two sons, Michael, 6 and Lee, 3, have left Eagle Pass, Texas, and joined him in the Phillipines.
Nancy Henson, Greenville, was named clerk in the county attorney's office. She started work last week. Mary Matheny, former clerk, resigned to accept a position in the sheriff's office.

Nancy Henson, appointed by the fiscal court last Saturday as clerk in the county attorney's office, resigned this week effective the last of the month to accept employment at Williams & Wells Drug Store. Mrs. Betty Summers will replace Mrs. Henson.

The E & E Cafe, located two doors below Batsel’s Market, was open to serve short orders and pies with coffee priced at 5 cents.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Batsel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Central City Sunday with an open house. Mr. and Mrs. Batsel have seven children, Harold, of Bowling Green; Paul Wayne, of Central City; Annabell, of Anderson, Ind.; Jeraldine Bruce, of Breman; Alma Plain and Susie Dossett, of Sacramento; and Mary Lynn Thomas, of Owensboro.
