Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy VIII. Made by one of the best, if not best, PlayStation companies of all time.
Squaresoft released an exceptional game earlier, Final Fantasy VII. That was a great game too. So that's
why I am so excited about the U.S. release of FFVIII which is on September 7th. Final Fantasy VIII is a four-disc game.
I am hoping it will be a great RPG just like the preceding game of the series.

Introduction

So far...
There was a time when domination ruled the planet. But there were no victims, no conquerers, no dictators, no martyrs. SeeD, an organization founded around the world, removed military domination and created peace. SeeD members were special and possessed magical powers. In order to join SeeD, one must train hard at the Balamb Garden and pass the graduation exam.
One such teenager dreamed of the chance to join SeeD. Now the fate of the world lies in his hands.
A powerful witch, who existance was thought only to be a myth, has awaken and now threatens the peace which once inhabited the world. Her malevolence and strong magic power were feared, but her presence has received worship and praise.
When Squall is inducted into SeeD, the elite mercenary force of Garden, he attends a dinner party for the new recruits, during which he meets Rinoa. Although they do not reveal their identies at the party, Squall encounters Rinoa later, and discovers she is the leader of the Forest Owls, a rebel organization fighting against the nation of Galbaldia.
The Forest Owls are not very effective in their battles against Galbaldia, despite being assisted by SeeD. All the members of Forest Owls appear to have little concern about the consequences of their actions.
After meeting Rinoa, Squall has a very strange dream, in which he is Laguna Loire, a Galbaldia soldier who would rather be a journalist. In the dream, Laguna is on a mission with Ward and Kiros.
Meanwhile, the nation of Galbaldia has annexed neighboring Dole, and has declared war on the rest of the world. The President of Galbaldia was assisted by the witch Edea. Because it is suspected that Edea is behind the recent Galbaldian actions, Squall is sent on a mission to assassinate her.
Complicating matters is the appearance of Seifer, Squall's long time rival, at Edea's side. Seifer has two loyal bodyguards, Raijin and Fuujin who will also make Squall's mission harder.

Story

Squall, the main character of Final Fantasy VIII, is a student at the prestigious military school Balamb Garden. He, like all other students, aspires to become a member of Seed, and elite section of Garden. It is said that the requirements for entry into this organisation are hard. Only the best among the students of Garden are selected. Students who fail to enter SeeD are expelled.
Squall's nation is under a threat from the neighboring country of Galbaldia, run under a corrupt government (like all other Final Fantasy games). SeeD is actually an organization that opposes that nation by supporting rebel forces. It's main aim is to train soldiers that can fulfil its purpose.
Rinoa is the leader of such a rebel force - the Forest Owls. It is a radical. It basically uses harsh tactics to deal with the government of Galbaldia without considering the potential repercussions of its actions (similar to Barret's rebel force in Final Fantasy VII).
Eventually, Squall makes it into SeeD. It is at a dinner function for the new inductees where he first meets Rinoa. As the story unfolds, he will discover Rinoa's true identity as the leader of the Forest Owls.
Laguna Loire is a Galbaldia soldier who dreams of becoming a journalist. He is often accompanied by Ward Zaback and Kiros Seagul. At one point in the story, Squall has an unusual dream, in which he is Laguna who is on a mission. This has led to some speculation that Laguna and Squall may have some sort of psychic link to each other. Whatever it is, it is undoubted that fates of these two characters are intricately entwined.
Subsequently, Squall is sent on a mission to assassinate the powerful sorceress Edea, aide of the President of Galbaldia., who is believed to be the mastermind of the latest Galbaldia aggressions against its adjacent nations. A neighbouring country, Dole, has already been conquered.
Somewhere during Squall's mission, he discovers that Seifer, his arch-rival has been collaborating with the bitch Edea. Seifer was also a member of the military academy Squall belonged to. The former was responsible for the scar on Squall's head. During one of the training sessions at the Garden, as Seifer was combating Squall, he pulled the gunblade trigger while the blade was in contact with Squall's forehead, releasing massive amounts of energy that provided for extra damage. Seifer is assisted by two persons, Raijin and Fuujin who will plague Squall's mission throughout the plot.

This is how the cover of the U.S. version of Final Fantasy VIII is going to look. I think it looks very beautiful and nice, don't you think so too?

Final Fantasy VIII!

My advice-pre-reserve your copy of Final Fantasy VIII at your local game store. Otherwise you'll have trouble getting the game when it comes out.
The PC version will be out by the end of the year. That's good news for you people who have a PC. Don't miss out on the greatest game ever made.
