To Magnolia Lady's Personal Tour of New Orleans, Louisiana

Please, come on in, I've been taking visiting friends and family to see all the sights around here for years, and I've become quite good at it, so let me share it with you too.

This is a beautiful state that is rich in history, from the meandering bayous to the great Mississippi River to it's stately plantation mansions. So come along, I'd like to take you on a little tour of some of my favorite places.

There are so many wonderful things for you to do and see, but I think we'll need some nourishment first, (~and I did promise to feed you~) so we'll start out here, at the Court of Two Sister's restaurant ~ for a jazz brunch...don't you just love this! Look at all this food, talk about the flavor of New Orleans!

Now then, we're all ready to begin the tour.

First we'll take a trip back in time.....and visit some beautiful antebellum mansions, surrounded by 300 year old moss-draped oaks and lovely gardens, set against the backdrop of the Mississippi River.

I hope you enjoyed them...there are many more, but I don't want to tire you out on your very first visit!

Well, that was fun....now let's saunter over to the Riverfront and sit and watch the people go by at Cafe Du Monde, while we refresh ourselves with cafe au lait and beignet's. This is a "must" in your introduction to the New Orleans food experience!

Right next to us is the "Moonwalk" which looks over the Mississippi River, so let's go "oohh" and "ahhh" at the riverboats going by.

Now we'll cross the street and take a stroll through Jackson Square and take a little tour of the Vieux Carre,(the French Quarter). If you don't feel like walking, we can take a carriage ride to see the sights. We'll visit the St. Louis Cathedral, meander up and down the streets looking at the lacy ornamental iron railings on all the buildings, peek into a few courtyards, and just stop anywhere that looks interesting.

There are two homes right here in the heart of the French Quarter that are open to the public, both are beautiful, you pick, which one should we stop at? The Hermann - Grima House or Gallier House.... great choice! Now I'm sure all that walking has built up an appetite, so let me take you to our famous Antoine's for lunch. Would you like a peek at the menu? Here now, no salivating, just come and eat, and enjoy!

Ohmygoodness....I am so full, we just have to walk this off! Just a couple of blocks to Royal St. and we'll visit the wonderful antique shops and galleries, that will do the trick. Come along now....
