This is a radar images of the wildfires in Arizona during the summer of 2002. Fires rarely show up this well on radar. Isn't it cool! The radar is centered out of Flagstaff, AZ.

Here is a satellite picture of the fires in the radar image above. You can clearly
see them in east central Arizona. The plume of smoke stretches northeastward toward CO and even reached as far east as western Kansas. Very impressive!

I saved this radar rainfall estimate across Missouri because I had never seen so much
rain fall over just a 24 hour period and over a large area like this. This prompted lots of flooding during the spring of 2002 around the Mississippi
River.

I love visible satellite because you can see some impressive sites. Here's a snowfall band stretching from the Texas Panhandle, northeastward to northwestern Missouri. You can see some of the river valleys in the areas indicated to be snow.

The following images are some super cells that developed in south central Kansas on April 10. They produced several tornadoes and was a rare event with super cells lining up in an east-west line.

Here is a later time during the event

On this image you can see the outflow boundary where more super cells eventually formed

Here is a later picture

You can see a bow echo going through eastern Kansas on this image and the line of super cells moving towards Wichita

Hurricane Isabel as it spins in the Gulf of Mexico threatening the U.S. mainland. This
hurricane picture was from Sept. 21, 2002.

This storm happened during one of the most active weeks in severe wx in US history. You can
clearly see the hook echo.

Here is a later view.

And this view, the hook is still very evident.
