MARKUS JÄÄSKELÄINEN Markus Jääskeläinen is a Finnish poet, translator and literary critic. He lives in Sydney, Australia. Markus has published six books of poetry in his native language Finnish. His latest collection, Ilmapallo (The Balloon), was published in 2011. He has also translated poetry and prose from English into Finnish; notably two novels by Jack Kerouac (The Dharma Bums and Big Sur), a selection of poems by William Carlos Williams and lastly a selection of poetry by Walt Whitman. Markus has published numerous articles and book reviews in various newspapers and journals and was editor of the poetry magazine Tuli & Savu (Fire & Smoke) from 1994 till 1996.
