I Want to be a PMA Cadet
<lengirl>

I have always wanted to be a PMA cadet. The ambition dates back to my high school CAT days. When I got into college, I wanted to join the ROTC but I had other commitments (church prayer group). Nonetheless, when I was in 2nd year college, I found an application form in one of the dailies in the college's library. After library hours, I approached one of the staff there and asked permission if I can rip off the form. Fortunately, with my jedi-like negotiation skills, I got the form.

I did take the entrance test which was held at PNU on August 1997. I can even recall who my proctor was - 1Cl ARILES - whom I think is now with PAF. Well, I did pass the exam. I read my name in the Manila Standard and I did receive a letter from the Academy with a directive to report to V. Luna for the medical/physical exam.

However, my dad, who has a sort of military orientation (he is not a military man but a private pilot), never agreed to my proposal of joining the Academy. Respecting my dad's point of view, I did not insist any further. He had two arguments - my being a female and being a PSU student (“Premier State U”).

So the dream went - woosh. Pass. Until now, I still have this dream of becoming an Air Force pilot. Thinking back in time - if chance did play my way, I could have graduated on March 2002.

Perhaps fate has other plans. A number of years after I passed on the opportunity, I accidentally crossed (or is it "shared?") path(s) with an Ayer. Little did I know that it could lead me-him-us (whatever the correct pronoun is!) into something which mortals search for - LOVE.

To cut the chase short, he toured me in my "dream academy." We visited PMA sometime in July this year before he left for Palawan. I got to witness, even for a day, the life of a cadet.

At times, I still wonder why I never insisted to join the Academy. Then again, if I did, I just would have passed the chance of finding my bliss in life - in the form of (now) Ens. Sebab (NavTaskForce41). (That makes me a kaydet girl... right?)
