Rory is an endearing scamp with a delicious sense of humor and is a first class cuddler.
Rory at 10 months of age
He began his show career with a Specialty Best in Sweeps under Bonnie Gurak. He placed third in his class at the 1991 ASSA National under Katie Gammill.
Rory finished his American championship with Best of Winners at the 1995 Detroit Specialty under C. Seaver Smith. His Group win was awarded by George Bragaw.
Cathy Pickard, Kincardine, helped handle him to his Canadian title which he completed with 3 five point wins. Cathy is the breeder and owner of Rory's dam, Can. Ch. Kincardine's Cast of Thousands ROMC, dam of six champions. He won the Veteran Dog class at the 1998 CSSA National under Lynn Broussard. He went on to an Award of Merit at the DCSSA Specialty under Shirley Meger later that same week, both of these wins were accomplished with the very professional handling skills of Megan Pickard, Cathy and Frank's daughter and Rory's co owner. (No, Rory has not left Romyldale. Megan and I both love him, but I can not bear to part with him.)
Megan began her partnership with Rory at the 1998 Credit Valley shows in Toronto. Rory was entered only on Sunday so that Megan could show him in Junior Showmanship. She made the very generous and mature decision to show him in breed when conformation and juniors conflicted. They went Best of Breed in very stiff, illustrious competition!
Rory has decided that he is not done competing even though he has now reached the age of twelve. He finished his UKC Grand Champion title in just nine shows (the minimum is eight). His only defeat in the Champion class was by his daughter, Gwen. He was number eight in the Top Ten standings for 2000. Rory capped his UKC experience with a Reserve Best in Show with Pam Moore's expert guidance under judge Karen McDermitt.

The old man still looks good at twelve years of age!
His offspring have continued on with his winning ways. He is currently the sire of ten Canadian champion offspring (two others with points). One daughter, Can. Ch. Lorimar's Simply Shameless, finished in three consecutive shows, another, Can. Ch. Bonspar's Southern Belle, was Winners Bitch at the DCSSA Specialty under Jean Simmonds. Several are Best of Breed winners from the classes, and one son, Can. Ch. Lynphil's Stretched to the Limit, has gone on to group placements and has sired group winning offspring.
Rory's hips are OFA Excellent, he is vWd clear, eyes normal, his thyroid is borderline per MSU and he is on a thyroid supplement.
Rory is 14 3/4 inches tall. He excells in sweetness of expression. He has a balanced head profile with correct stop and excellent finish of underjaw. His top skull is flat and smooth, but his back skull could be cleaner. He is structurally sound with a strong driving rear. His front is better than average, but could be improved with a little better layback and slightly longer upper arm. He has good depth of chest and a prominent prosternum. He carries his tail high, but that appears to be more attitude than tail set. Rory has inherited a strong herding instinct from his grandsire, Am. Can. Ch. Tantera Dayspring Crescendo CD PT VC. He also shows a real aptitude for agility and passed the Therapy Dog International test.
