Backstreet Boys Looking For Love?

Nick Carter has admitted that his decision to break up with long-term girlfriend Mandy has left him feeling sad but relieved.

"It came to the point where I didn't want the responsibility, you know, always having to call up. I needed to concentrate on the group and the album."

He admitted that the burden of a serious relationship was, while enjoyable, incredibly stressful at the same time.

"Relationships are beautiful but sometimes it is a lot of stress and it's not necessarily anyone's fault, it's just the way relationships are," he explained.

"I'm enjoying being 20 years old now."

AJ McLean, meanwhile, revealed that he is finding it tough to talk about his split from Amanda.

"It's kinda weird. It just didn't work out the way we both saw it to be. Since we separated I haven't really talked to her that much 'coz she's busy with her own career and she's dating someone so if she's happy then she's happy but don't get me wrong -- there are times when I miss her. Not a day goes by when I'm not thinking about the breakup, but it's better not to talk to her 'coz it makes it easier on both of us."

The singer, who also goes under the alter ego of Johnny No-Name, is hopeful that Amanda, who is now dating another man, may return to him to rekindle their friendship.

"She's in a better place, I'm in a better place but you never know, we may get back together. We've broken up for 3 or 4 months before and gotten back together, so who knows?"

McLean may still be feeling sore from the failure of his relationship, but that hasn't stopped him from moving on and searching for a new partner.

"I don't think there is any one better than her but I'm keeping my eyes open. If a girl comes by and knocks me off my feet then so be it."

It is the first time in many years that three members of the world-record breaking band have been single at the same time. Howie Dorough joins McLean and Carter as arguably the most eligible bachelors in the world.

Carter, who wrote and co-wrote three tracks on the group's new album "Black & Blue," even asked McLean to broadcast the news of their availability at the band's show in Sydney's Pitt St. Mall to a crowd of over 5000.

"I'm always looking and it's a good way of getting the news out that I'm single. You know, instead of going on the web," he said, before adding that with three single guys in the band, the talk often turns to the subject of women.

"We talk about girls a lot now so it's cool."
