The John Columbus Quigley Family
John Columbus Quigley was born around 1817 in Morgan County, Ohio. He was the son of John Quigley, Jr. and Ellen Corner.
Oh April 6, 1840 in Rosseau, Morgan County, Ohio, John C. Quigley married Emily Smith.
Emily Smith Quigley was born in April of 1819 in Maryland. Her parents are still a mystery. They are listed as being foreigners in the 1885 Davis County, Iowa State Census.
Sometime between 1843 and 1845, John C. Quigley moved his family from Morgan County, Ohio to Salt Creek township, Davis County, Iowa. According to a census taken in 1850, he worked as a farmer.
On June 23, 1872, John C. Quigley died in Floris, Davis County, Iowa. He is supposed to be buried in Pierce Cemetery near Floris, Davis County, Iowa. In June of 1874, William Quigley, Sr., the oldest son, was appointed guardian of his two youngest brothers, J. Marcellus and Frank, and youngest sister Rhoda, due to the untimely death of his father.
On February 16, 1907 in Eldon, Wapello County, Iowa, Emily Smith Quigley died. She is supposed to be buried with her husband in Pierce Cemetery, near Floris, Davis County, Iowa.

- He married Mary Jane Heady on Dec. 19, 1878 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- Mary Ellen Quigley born Sept. 1, 1843 in Morgan Co., Ohio and died Sept. 22, 1911 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
- She married Julian Corner on April 26, 1866 in Floris, Davis Co., Iowa.
- Arthur C. Quigley born Sept. 10, 1845 in Davis Co., Iowa and died Feb. 10, 1905.
- He married Aramintha Tharmuthus Noel Watkins on Jan. 15, 1871 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- John Columbus Quigley, Jr. born Jan. 10, 1848 in Davis Co., Iowa and died on April 20, 1940 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- He married Amanda Terrissa Allen on March 31, 1876.
- Elias Quigley born about 1849 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- George W. Quigley born April 11, 1854 in Davis Co., Iowa and died on March 2, 1921 in Marshall Co., Iowa.
- Joseph Marsellus Quigley born Jan. 13, 1857 in Davis Co., Iowa and died on March 1, 1917 in Marshall Co., Iowa.
- Sarah S. Quigley born Jan. 13, 1856 in Davis Co., Iowa and died on Aug. 25, 1865 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- Rhoda Quigley born in 1857 in Davis Co., Iowa.
- Frank Eugene Quigley born in 1861 in Davis Co., Iowa and died on Jan. 6, 1884 in Davis Co., Iowa.
