... Apparently Thomas Grant and Winny Mozingo must have lived together. They did live in the same township "Newhope" I have a record that his wife-Susannah divorced him in 1826. He and Winny were in court twice once in 1827 and the other 1830. The last record I have for him was 1834. Don't know if he died or migrated away from the area????

...I ran this by Marty too and this was his reply..
The 1830 census was alphabetical so I can't tell who was neighbors to whom.
I think Capt. A. Whitfield's District encompassed present day New Hope Township which is north of the Neuse river and east of Goldsboro. Most of the Wayne County Grants were in that district in 1830 and most of them lived in or around New Hope. I was just there on Thursday passing through.
Sarah Mozingo and Edward Mozingo were listed in that district in 1830, but not Winney. She wasn't listed at all, at least not as a head of household. She was probably living with someone else at the time. It is entirely possible she was with Thomas Grant. Consider his household:
1 male 40-49 (1780/90) = Thomas Grant
1 male 5-9 (1820/25) = son?
2 males 0-4 (1825/30) = sons? (Mark and Thomas Mozingo, born ca 1829)
1 female 30-39 (1790/1800) = wife? (not Susan for they were already divorced, perhaps Winny?)
1 female 5-9 (1820/25) = daughter?
That could be Winny and Mark & Thomas and two other of her children living with Thomas Grant in 1830. No way to be sure, but it does fit.

Thomas Grant's listing of 1830 looks like a new marriage for him, younger wife, and new young children, however, it could be that the people with him are actually Winny Mozingo and her children. Their sons Mark and Thomas Mozingo (born 1828/29) could be the two boys in Thomas Grant's 1830 household aged under 5 (born 1825/30). It is a perfect fit.

Calvin Mozingo died from illness while serving during the Civil War which was very common occurrence. It is reported his remains are buried with other soldiers in the mound at Willowdale Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC. There is no evidence he married and had a family. Per Gayle Licari
