Eat Your Egg Whites, and Use the Yolk Too!
Stop and think
the next time you crack open an egg and begin to separate the yolk
from the whites. You may think you are merely tossing the gooey
yellow center into the trash, but you are really throwing away
nature’s little beauty secret.
The yolk of an
egg can be used to give you great skin! With essential vitamins E
and A contained in the yolk, egg yolks act as an astringent and
antioxidant agent for the face.
The yolk smoothes
and cleanses the skin by tightening pores and pulling out
impurities. Not only will you be cutting the high fat 59 calories
yolk from your diet, you’ll be clearing up your complexion as
well. Here are some tips to egg you on:
Separating The Egg:
- With clean hands, gently
crack the egg open.
- Over a bowl, spill the yolk
onto your palm and let the albumen (egg white) fall through
fingers.
- Spill any excess egg white
that remains in shell into bowel.
- The yolk should be separated
and still in your palm. Place in another bowel.
*For easier separation, an egg
separator (plastic device that looks like a measuring cup with
holes in the bottom) can be purchased.
Egg Yolk Mask:
- Beat the egg yolk and apply
to clean face with fingers or cotton ball.
- Let dry for about 10 minutes
and then rinse with water.
Applying right before showering
may be a wise decision. Your skin will feel rejuvenated
immediately!
