Mookie Wilson
Years with the Mets: 10, (1980-1989)
"A little roller up along first..." There isn't any Mets fan around who couldn't finish that sentence for you. Mookie Wilson had the most famous at bat in Mets history. During his at bat in the 10th inning of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, Bob Stanley threw a wild pitch that let the Mets tie the game and seconds later Bill Bucker made the dramatic error that allowed the Mets to win Game 6 and then win the championship the next night.
Even before his famous 10th inning at bat, the fans at Shea Stadium always loved Mookie, who could always be seen with a smile on his face. As he stepped up to the plate he was always greeted with a lou "Mooooookie" from the fans.
Mookie's best season came perfectly on time in 1986 when the Mets needed him the most. He drove in 45 runs that year but none as important as when he drove home Ray Knight in the 10th inning of Game 6.
