Macavity is the official bad guy in the plot of Cats. He's always trying to ruin the Jellicles' lives one way or another. In some productions, it seems he holds a very large grudge against Munkustrap and aims at him quite a lot. Nobody really knows how old Macavity is or where he lives. During the show, he kidnaps Old Deuteronomy, the Jellicle leader, and members of his gang, rats, help him accomplish this. Along with rats, he is rumored to also have cats in league with him. Some of these are Mungojerrie, Griddlebone, and sometimes Rumpleteazer just to name a few. Macavity is also rumored to have had some sort of a relationship with both Demeter and Bombalurina, though the exact story is not clearly known. With his gang, Macavity is an excellent theif. He has stolen many a-priceless relic from museums, jewelery stores and the like. He baffles Scotland Yard, for he always has an alibi, no matter what the situation. Macavity can also float in the air a few feet above the ground, a trait that most people manage to overlook in the musical. It is also believed, even though it not really said aloud or proven, that he can be in one place and reappear in another seconds later. Granted, his magic powers are not up to Mistoffelees' level, but they still aid him in his theivery and even a few murders. |
