Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are two cats who live in a home in Victoria Grove. It is not really known whether they are siblings, mates, or just good friends. They are both believed to be employed under Macavity, yet they are still Jellicles. Sometimes it is also thought that Mungojerrie is the one working for Macavity, not both him and Rumpleteazer. Both love to create and get into mischief, which is probably why they get along so well. The tribe doesn't approve of their behavior and is constantly trying to correct them. They are always terrorizing the family with which they live, stealing Sunday's dinner or a few Woolworth pearls. Mungojerrie is a very active tom, always up for a practical joke or two. He can be seen hanging out with the "bigger toms" like Alonzo and Rum Tum Tugger, and occasionally Munkustrap. He also protects the tribe when Macavity comes to call, despite the fact it is rumored that Mungojerrie works for him. Often paired with Rumpleteazer, he is also seen with Demeter or Bombalurina at times. Rumpleteazer is a funny, lively queen who is rarely seen apart from Mungojerrie. She is often seen getting "a clip around the ear" from some of the older cats. However, they still like her despite her habits. She is often seen as one of the cats who has just transcended into adulthood, although she is also considered a kitten at times. When they sing their song, "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer", they both don other clothes. Mungojerrie picks up a T-Shirt, and Rumpleteazer adds a leotard, stockings and a garter, slim gloves, and a pair of gigantic pearls. In the Broadway version, when the actress who plays Rumpleteazer is not singing her song, she often doubles as Etcetera. |
