Bombalurina is the seductive red cat we see dancing with Demeter during the song "Macavity, The Mystery Cat". Throughout the show she is seen using her sex appeal to recieve attention and flattery from the males. Often she is seen competing with the younger kittens for Rum Tum Tugger's attention, her tom cat counterpart. Bombalurina appears to have a close relationship with Demeter, but it is not sure whether they are actually sisters or just really close friends. She is very protective of the younger queen and seems to be the stronger female of the pair. Bombalurina can also be mature and comanding when the time is right, as seen during Macavity's song. Her and Demeter seem to have had a past with Macavity, but that story is left up to interpretation. In almost all productions, Bombalurina is the more confident queen while singing of the mystery cat. She has been paired up with Rum Tum Tugger most often in the minds of Cats Fans, but she can also be seen with the wise, steady Munkustrap. Some other productions place her with Alonzo and even Mungojerrie. |
