Story: When I was 12 I got a guitar, I learned how to play everything from Nirvana to Metallica. Then somewhere along the way I stumbled into the Offspring record Smash. I was just blown away by the songwriting that I sought out bands who they associated with. My favorite of these was Pennywise. They were faster and harder than anything I had ever heard before. Of course, Green Day was a big one too. Punk led to other things, such as Sublime and the Red Hots, but most importantly Ska. I ran into ska because I got into Less Than Jake. Ska got me into a bit of reggee, not too much though. I started listening to a bit of harder punk rock as well along the lines of Rancid and NOFX. Through my schooling I learned how to play bass in a jazz band. So taking what I know from both sides I brought it to this band. What's the point of the story? Nothing really I was just thinking about all the music I like. |
