This is my little tribute page (well, more than one page, so pages) to Final Fantasy, the best role playing game series that I have ever played. Below are links to the various pages on the games themselves.

Final Fantasy was the first game of the series, playable on the Nintendo system. I enjoyed it because the story was good and it was challenging. The graphics were a lot better than my old Atari! *g* So that was the game that got me hooked on Final Fantasy (the series) and rpg games.

A couple years later, we (my dad and I) bought the new Super Nintendo and the new Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy II. Firstly, let me say that Cecil rocked. I liked the prophecy too, because I'm a poetic sort of person. Secondly, FFII has the best storyline to date. It was complex, but not too complex, which made it very fun to play. There is also many sub-quests to go on (read: great replay value).

Then came Final Fantasy III a couple years after FFII, for the Super NES as well. Music. The best music. I can understand why Square (the makers/gods of Final Fantasy) had the music for sale on cd. I also liked the opera scene and the fact that the main character was female. Mind you, I'd criticize them for molding her into a typical female image, who falls into despair with the World of Ruin.

Final Fantasy VII (see below for number jump explaination). What a jump. It shows you how fast technology is advancing! This one is for the Playstation and three cd disks, the ending of the game consisting of a disk of it's own. Repeat after me: coooool! The music was a little on the morbid side, but with such a bleak world, that's understandable. The characters when not in battle were blocky, but in battle made up for that. The plot a little too complex for comfort; the first time I played it, I was very confused by the end of disk 1. But the story is rich enough for the game to be played through again, now that you know the ending.

*Drum roll* Now Final Fantasy VIII is due out in North America September/October/November (Fall) 1999! From the movies and pictures I've seen of the game, this is a must buy! All the problems of FFVII have been removed, abolished, erased, they're gone. Well, we'll see about the plot...The plot supposedly centers around a love affair (yes! Square is finally aiming for the few and dedicated female players!), but there's lots of kicking the enemy's behind as well. So now all I need is a Playstation and $100....

Oh, the number thingy...Well, Square released a lot more Final Fantasy games in Japan than in North America and the rest of the world. *g* Guess the people there caught on fast how wonderful the games are. So...

American/world = Japanese
Final Fantasy = FFI
FFII = FFIV
FFIII = FFVI
FFVII = FFVII
FFVIII = FFVIII
Mystic Quest is supposedly Japan's Mystic Quest, but I'm not certain on that!
When FFVII came around, they (the people at Square) decided to quit changing the title, packaging, opening credits, etc... for the American and world audience. Hence the jump from 3 to 7. Final Fantasy VIII is also the same around the world.
