Character Profiles

Aya Brea was in a car accident many years ago along with her sister and mother. Strangely enough, Aya made it out of the crash sustaining only minor injuries to her cornea. She was rushed to a hospital where she received a replacement cornea from her sister, who passed away along with her mother. While being raised by her father after her mother's and sister's tragic death, Aya developed a sense of "right", she wanted to make the world better, which motivates her to join the NYPD 17th precinct. However, this is not the sole reasoning behind the choice in her job. Aya cares about people and can often be found running around to find a little girl and saving another from a brash partner. One may say this isn't a quality a police officer should have, but for Aya Brea, it serves as something that enhances her ability to keep moving on, her ability to defy the odds and save the world. Only six months into her job, that fateful night comes back to haunt her . . . The events of Parasite Eve ensue here. After the incident has come to a close, Aya joins a special task force of the FBI called Mitochondria Investigation and Suppression Team or MIST for short. However, Aya still retains her selfless, brave, and humorous attitude toward the goings on of her work while managing to be serious and strong but soft and kind at the same time.
Unlike most blonds or female characters in general, Aya is strong and takes the stereotype of a female blonde and smashes it into bits. She could even rival Buffy for pure mental strength, integrity, and selflessness. Aya sets a fantastic example for young people, male and female, to not give in to pressure, deal, and most importantly, care about others before you care about yourself. Aya Brea is a true hero.

Daniel "Bo" Dollis is Aya's mentor. Called the "Father and Daughter" team, Aya has developed a strong bond with Daniel, one that is apparent to even the most blind onlooker. Blunt, brash, cruel, caring, loving, smart, father are just a few words to describe a dynamic personality such as his. Personal needs are put on hold for this hard working NYPD cop, so much so, that he chooses to skip Christmas with his son just so he can see the New York incident put to an end. This by no means tells us that he doesn't care for his son, Ben. The moment Ben is in danger, Daniel springs into action and does everything within his power to ensure his son's safety. While pretty much useless on the mitochondria-creature-infested field, Daniel spends time doing research along with K. Maeda, however, this is totally against his own wishes. Desiring to be put to physical use, he will sometimes put himself in dangerous situations, knowing the consequences. Aya has to beg him to back off just so he can live another day. Call it stupidity; call it heroism; call it stubbornness; whatever his actions can be perceived as, Daniel is a fighter craving action for the sake of a better tomorrow.

Kyle Madigan is a Private Eye from L.A., so he says. In reality, he is a government spy sent to investigate the happenings in Dryfield, Nevada. He is brave, but not as battle happy as Aya Brea. He is also a bit brash, he exists in the "bad guy kill" state of mind without doing much thinking otherwise. Information never seems out of his reach, he always chimes in with helpful (and sometimes biologically incorrect) research on the goings on. He's sneaky, he convinces No. 9 that he is siding with the N.M.C.s just to save little Eve, and does it incredibly well. Kyle adds something to the Parasite Eve universe, he is one of the only characters that's out to save his own hide before anyone else, by nature, but he will come out of this selfish state of mind during the last moments of the Dryfield incident.
Odd as it may be, there is something inside of him that is only uncovered in his final words "It's not like me to go this crazy for a girl" and then faints. He clicks with Aya for reasons other than physical attraction . . . What reasons exactly? Well, he regrows a leg that gets blown off during the satellite attack and manages to find Aya on her vacation with Eve one year after the happenings in Dryfield. Maybe, just maybe, there's something to him that he's not showing to anybody. . . It could also mean he's gay, just to cover all ends. In the end, he resigns from the government that employed him and has yet to utter another word.

Kunihiko Maeda's prime quality is research. He is brought to America just to investigate the New York incident but winds up becoming apart of it. Not to bright in any other field besides science, he will often stumble over words (even more than usual) whenever his feelings toward Aya come to light. He holds beliefs in a higher power, something your average scientist will not usually believe in. Creating charms that protect Aya from damage and a gun that will conquer your strongest foe, Maeda is essential ending Eve's life and putting a close to the New York incident. Trying to fit in with American ways of doing things, Maeda's constant stumbling and screwing up provide a few laughs for onlookers. After the Dryfield incident, Maeda teams up with Pearce Carradine to do research on how people can live mutually with Neo-Mitochondria, rather than having the Mitochondria take over the cells. This research will be pivotal for future Neo-Mitochondria outbreaks.
