Supporting Cast Profiles 2
Pierce D. Carradine is the phone friend information buddy and also the resident geek at MIST, which isn't a bad thing nowadays. He doesn't like guns at all, probably because he's clueless about them, also due to the fact that he's just a nice guy. Obviously having feelings toward Aya, he'll spring into action whenever Aya needs help, while getting himself into quite a mess at the same time. Several "awwww" moments are induced because of this stereotyped "guy" nature, even though he'll shatter that stereotype with his kind heart and knowledgeable mind. Pierce serves as a pivotal plot vessel; putting his computer hacking knowledge to good use, he uncovers the truth to MIST and the shelter. After the Dryfield mess is over, Pierce joins up with scientist K. Maeda to try to find a way neo-mitochondria can live mutually with their "hosts". This is his life's work, something most human beings will never come across.
Eve is a product of the shelter's experiments with evolving mitochondria. Grown from cells obtained from Aya after the New York incident, Eve does not have a family outside of the scientists who observe her. Tortured all of her life with impossible to play with toys, dreary walls, and anything else that can increase mental stress, Eve somehow maintains her purity. She never lashes out at Aya, in fact, she is quite scared of her at first, but quickly warms up. Eve also displays something important to the overall feel of Parasite Eve, she tries is to survive all she can, which is a humans first and foremost instinct, and every animals' for that matter. Knowing what a human would act like without exposure to other humans and being treated like an animal your entire life, makes one think. Maybe humans aren't as detached from the rest of the Animal Kingdom as we might like to think. . . After the DryField incident is over with, Aya adopts her, she attends Jr. High school, seemingly fits in and is quite popular with the "normal" children. Also, Eve has lost, or hidden away, any mitochondrial power she once had . . . But how? Somehow, Eve reaches a mutualistic relationship with her mitochondria, something Aya even had problems with, with little effort. Maya Brea, anyone?
Rupert Broderick is one tough officer. He helps out Aya several times during her trials with items and gun power. He likes what he does, he takes pleasure in taking care of his foes, but also lacking something important, compassion. He lost his family to NMCs, so this gives him a reason to be so hard This by no means is a flaw in him, this adds so much to the world of Parasite Eve; there aren't any other characters that act the way he does and only Daniel could even come close to being in the same category. Nevertheless, he's not all that dynamic, but there's that something that makes him a good person and an interesting character. He avenges his family's death, making him a hero of vengeance so-to-speak, adding something totally virgin to the Parasite Eve series and will even fully disclose the NMCs to the public, thus bringing his family's death to peace. Another moment of irony, he's battle happy but get's injured so he's forced to push papers, sort of like Daniel.
Gary Douglas is a tough skinned, soft hearted, country guy. He doesn't provide much information other than leading Aya on to the shelter, but is good in providing some seriously dangerous weapons. He has a heart, showing us this in giving Aya the best room in the hotel, which he runs, without charging her (something you don't find these days). Aya will even go as far as comparing his to Daniel, which is understandable. Gary loves his dog, Flint, as much as Daniel loves his son and Gary has that roughness that is only skin deep, just as Daniel does.
Jodie Bouquet is the girl of today, spouting out phrases like "you go girl" and "I just told him you were my boyfriend". Regardless of her flake nature, she's not all clueless, she's handy with weaponry, which is why she hands it out. Seeing Aya as a friend, she'll go miles out of her way just to give Aya some information on Baldwin . . . well . . . and to get away from him. She'll even worry about her when she doesn't call, which serves as an "awwww" moment.
Flint is a dog, loyal to Gary Douglas. He's a smart dog, showing Aya the way when something's wrong and rather heroic in guiding a wounded soldier to safety. The sad thing about his character is that he can die if Aya doesn't kill the Cannon Mouth monster in time, which is just plain horrible. Not only does this show Aya failing in her job, but she will also miss out on some outstanding weapons from the wounded soldier that Flint saves.
