Wing Chun Kung Fu

We train every Monday and Thursday:  7.30 - 9.30pm

As well as coaching at clubs locally for many years, Sifu Blackley has trained a small number of Martial Artists at the University since October 1997, in January 1999 the club gained full University of Nottingham Athletic Union status. Members are welcome regardless of age, sex or experience. The club will concentrate on teaching combat techniques for practical use in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Students will be schooled in Wing Chun, but will also be taught a number of other techniques and fighting styles as it is essential for a fighter to know as many forms of attack as possible so they can be countered. A student can only defend himself or herself by learning to fight, self-defence courses are at best a rip off, at worst they can be dangerous. The aim of the club is to train fighters in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere.

Although we are officially an university club we train between university terms, during Easter and Summer.
We start our training year in September, to coincide with the intake of new students, and those requesting grading will be graded in July.

Weekly The first 10 minutes of each session deals with admin. and notices.

This is followed by 20 minutes warm up and stretching.

Then the class is split into two groups: Beginners and Advanced.
There is also the "fast trackers" who, depending on the day, will form a third group or join the Advanced.
