Phab Clubs have one major aim, to create places where non-disabled
and disabled people can mix on equal terms. They can take the form of any
activity, and meet anywhere, from a youth center to a pub and be run by
any organisation. What links them all is that they are designed to mix
people with all types of abilities. |
|
Some Phab Clubs take the form of a youth club such as
the one shown here at Shop 3, in Maidstone. However the club could be a
sporting club, or even just a group of people that meet in a pub. Kent
Phab produces guidelines for new clubs when they are setup to make sure
that inclusion for disabled people is considered at all stages.
|
Phab Clubs are not set up just for disabled people, they are for anyone
that wants to join in. They are still mainstream clubs, but run so that
they can include all kinds of people. The clubs are varied, interesting,
but always fun and attract a good mix of people. |
|
There are currently 7 Phab Clubs in the Kent Phab area,
with new ones opening all the time. If you would like to find out about
Phab Clubs near you, or are thinking of starting a club that you think
should be fully inclusive, please contact the Kent
Phab office.
