Pi Alpha Chapter Programs
Since its establishment, Delta Sigma Theta has clearly established itself as a public service organization that strives to confront the problems of African Americans and, hence, all Americans.  A wide range of programs addressing education, health, international development, and strengthening of the African American family have emerged and evolved over the years.  In realizing its mission, Delta Sigma Theta provides an extensive array of public service through its Five-Point Program Thrust of Physical and Mental Health, Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement,  and Political Awareness and Involvement.:

Adopt A Classroom

  • Mentoring and coordinating projects for students at Helene Grant Elementary School

Breast Cancer Awareness Forum

  • Workshop at various college campuses discussing the prevalence of breast cancer among African-American women and ways to detect the disease.

Delta Academy

  • This national Delta project provides tutorials and workshops for girls between the ages of 11-14 at the Dixwell "Q" House.

Graduate/Professional Forum

  • Workshop exploring career and academic options for college women.

Habitat for Humanity

  • Another national project, the Pi Alpha Chapter helps build homes for low- income families in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven.

Sister II Sister Circle

  • Workshop series on issues that effect women, particularly on the collegiate level.

Voter Registration

Outreach to various Connecticut communities to encourage residents, particularly African-Americans to vote.
