get early jump on RCSL season 14/02/02
The Edmonton Gold of the Rugby Canada Super League have an early
start on the 2002 season.
The Edmonton Gold are already preparing to improve on its 2001 record
of 2-3 in the Rugby Canada Super League western conference
with a strict off season training system in place.
The
Gold produced solid victories over provincial rival Calgary Mavericks
by a 44-22 score, and also managed a narrow win over the Manitoba

With
the return of some familar faces Louis Medele, Trevor MacCaulay
& Brent Steinmetz the season ahead looks promising.
The
Gold has a development program under way, bringing the U-21 squad
up as the future players for the senior team with several players
this year being on the edge of selection for the senior team.
The Gold season kicks off with a game against Capilano's touring
team on May 20th at the annual rugby fest in Edmonton.
