RUGBY
CANADA "MISSION STATEMENT"
Rugby
Canada is committed to developing and delivering Rugby Union Football,
from fielding successful representative teams to providing leadership
in refereeing and coaching. Through innovative leadership, corporate
alliances and effective communication, Rugby Canada will elevate
Rugby Union Football to the forefront of Canadian sport.
Guiding
Principles:
1.
Administer, promote, develop and deliver the sport of Rugby Union
Football throughout Canada.
2. Represent and promote Rugby Canada interests at the international
level.
3. Commit to excellence in competition by men and women.
4. Provide a broad range of services and programs.
5. Maintain effective and cooperative communication within Rugby
Canada.
6. Strive toward fiscal self-sufficiency.
7. Evaluate and revise our common goals, based upon performance
and progress.
8. Maintain and enhance equity in all of Rugby Canada's activities
and programs.
"Any organization, any group of people who have together
for some time, develop a philosophy, a set of values, a series
of traditions and customs. These, in total are unique to that
organization." (Hewlett, 1994)
1.
We achieve our common goals through teamwork and communication.
We recognize
that with effective communication and mutual understandings, we
will succeed in achieving these goals.
2.
We encourage individuals to be innovative and flexible. As we
strive to become leaders, we will be flexible in allowing individuals
an innovative approach in reaching our common goals. This is particularly
important in technical areas, where there is constant change and
progress.
3.
We will encourage individuals to become involved in the administration
and management of Rugby Union Football. Rugby Canada will encourage
the best people available to become involved in club, provincial,
regional and national appointments, as we need to create a natural
succession to each position of management. Individuals need to
be enthusiastic, innovative and responsive to the ever-changing
needs of our organization and members.
4.
We will adhere to the highest standards of conduct. At every level,
participants are encouraged to conduct themselves in an ethical
manner. This cannot be assured by written policies and procedures,
but will come from deeply ingrained customs and traditions, that
are passed from generation to generation.
