Well, this is it. Pine Plains is where i have lived since i was in the 6th grade. The name really speaks for itself, most of the land here is covered with pine. The town is as little as it can be, there is only one traffic light which devides the town into four little sections, so once you are here you dont have to worry about being lost. Everyone is very much knows everyone else, that way one is never a stranger. We dont have movie theaters or shopping malls, however, we do have some nice little restaurants where you can really enjoy.

This is my high school (Stissing Mountain Jr-Sr high). Again, because of the small population we have, the class sizes are really small which make everyone's learning experience a little easier. In fact, my senior class graduated with less than one hundred students
If the one thing that we are famous for, or we really treasured, is the Stissing Tower! As you can see from the picture above which is our back yard, the tower is located on top of the mountain on the left.
Provided, there is a trail for hiking which leads to the tower. The best time for hiking would be around the summer time since it could get really cold on the mountain top at any other time. The hike itself would take approximately 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on your physical and experience. Snacks and drinks are recommended since you will probably take a few breaks along the way to enjoy the views. Occationaly you will encounter some streams and they make you wonder where they are from. Dont worry about bears or other wild animals, you might get a glimse of some deers and squirels, that is about it. I must say you are constantly climbing up, just immagine walking up the stairs for 30 minutes.

Once you have reached the base of the tower which stand about 4 stories high you will be faced with a decision, do you want to go higher or you are already high enough. Hikers usually go for it all and take it to the top. As you go up the tower you start to notice the stairway gets smaller and the tower shakes because of the strong wind. However, if you are brave enough to make it to the top, you will be awarded with a great view! Legend has it that once you are on top of the tower, on a clear day, you can see all the neighboring states around the tri-state area. If you are asking me if it is true or not, i could only say when i am up there i do see alot of land and a view that would take your breath away. So, if you are ever in the Hudson Valley, New York, stop by our little town and check it out, then you'll know what i mean.

This is my friend, Huan, from California who hiked with me last summer
