What's in it for you...

Your experience of working in the projects of INSEED will vary according to the objectives and the nature of the work carried out in individual projects.
However, as a volunteer you will:
  • gain a practical, hands-on experience of global environmental, educational and developmental research.

  • use widely applicable scientific techniques for project planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation which can be used in your career and also in the community in which you have worked.

  • have a live interface with a foreign culture by working as part of an international team.

  • be able to evaluate your capabilities and adaptability to work within extreme living conditions, by which we have aimed to engender in you a real sense of empathy to the issues affecting large sections of humanity in the Third World.

  • have oppotunity to sharpen your skills in an area which may be close or related to your chosen degreee or may be quite distant. However, themes will converge around integrated of the Third World. For example, a project to reduce the incidence of soil-transmitted parasitic diseases is not only an issue for students of public health, the underlying causes of such a health problem always involve specific issues which have social, cultural and economic dimensions.

Each of our projects has to undergo a rigorous previewing by the experts, providing you with an oppotunity to present the results in learned societies and peer-reviewed journals.

As the projects are to be monitored and evaluated by the leading scientists, entrepreneurs, bankers, and corporate world leaders etc. there will be abundant opportunities for networking with the leaders of various diverse professions.
