6. Joseph2 Finney (John Franklin3, Joseph4, John5, Richard6, Charles7, Samuel8, John9, John10, John11, William12, John13 Fienes, Richard14 Finies, Roger15 Fynes, William16 Fines, William17 Fienes, John18) was born Nov. 3, 1849. Joseph died Jan. 12, 1923 in Churchville, Pennsylvania, at 73 years of age.
He married Sarah Ellen Cornell March 9, 1876. They were the first of three generations to own and operate the Rocksville (Holland, PA) Mill, later known as Finney’s Feed Mill, starting in 1889. The mill was rebuilt many times from its construction c. 1710 to its conversion in 1962 to the Mill Race Restaurant, which is still in operation at the intersection of Holland and Buck Roads. It is believed the previous owner of the mill properties was a Mr. Gearhart. The family operated a feed store and general store across the street from the mill, and the store also functioned as the Holland Post Office. Joseph, his son Lafayette, and grandson Joseph, each were Holland Postmasters during the time period that the store was in operation.
At 26 years of age Joseph became the father of Clarence F. Finney 1876. At 33 years of age Joseph became the father of Lafayette Cornell Finney Philadelphia, PA, June 14, 1883.
Joseph Finney and Sarah Ellen Cornell had the following children:
7 i. Clarence F.1 Finney was born 1876. Clarence died 1881 at 5 years of age. His body was interred 1881 in Churchville, Pennsylvania, North & Southampton Reformed Church.
+ 1 ii. Lafayette Cornell Finney was born June 14, 1883.
