Virus Warning??

Stop!!!..., don't move!
Before you forward that "virus warning".

Okay, we have all gotten one of these, so called "helpful" forwarded icq messages or e-mail.
From someone who is trying to help out and save our PC's from harm.
Which is cool, we know you have a heart!
Thanks....but no Thanks!!
Please read the following; before you forward that "virus warning" to someone...and especially to me!!

  •      Most virus alert messages are hoaxes!! Designed to scare you.

A hoax message usually starts out like this!
V I R U S - W A R N I N G

Subject line is basically a screaming headline that tells you forward it to everyone on the face of the earth.
That this SO-CALLED-VIRUS will give your PC a major meltdown of sorts.  Stating perhaps that they
got it from "somewhere" naming a company more or less.  Sometimes these hoaxes offer a reward of
some kind and still yet again asking you to (no more like demanding) that you e-mail everyone at once.
(Do not forward these things!)
Note: if you receive a message like this, immediately suspect a hoax.
With the current crop of hoaxes, odds are that it is not real.
If your still shaking in your boots, do a little research.
Put on your detective hat, seek and you shall find the truth!

What makes a successful hoax?

  •      Technical sounding language
  •      Credibility by association
Solution?

Do not forward the virus alert message, delete it!

Keep informed, check to see if it's a known hoax.

Note: I am not an expert and I will never claim to be.  But I do know some stuff .  Got anything helpful tips to add in here?
