So my party is just walking through the islands, and bam!  We get ambushed:

"Encounter!  You aren't attacked by slimes or humanoids though, but by a vicious, lithe band of monks.  They shout "Feisty Slap of Pain!" and charge…"

Here's some mad monks attacking you along with normal monks:

Check out that mad monk image!

Usually Exile does a good job making its images correct, but this one doesn't look quite like a monk, or even a mad monk.  It looks like a woman in a dress, at least to me.  I guess they explain the graphic's apparent femininity by claiming they are "lithe".

Here's some better monk image they use elsewhere in the game, they should have just recycled them:

Ok, so go deeper and deeper into the island chain.  At the very last square the monestary, although there is no image for it.  If you don't have the key, you don't know its there so your party just walks over it.  Here is the entrance, their own title hints at the craziness inside:

So let's check this place out!  We get this description when opening the door:

"You use the key you bought to enter the monastery.  You hear, from deep inside, the sounds of chanting and vigorous exercise.  Oddly, the floor and walls show the nicks and stains of constant combat.  You wonder who keeps fighting who."

Check it out, there's even a blood stain 2 squares south of my character.  Normally you only see blood stains when you kill something, but this blood stain was there already.  Awesome touch.

I enter hesitantly, and am ambushed!

"Someone shouts an alarm!  Suddenly, the corridors are filled with alarmed yells of a host of upset and heavily armed monks.  You look down the corridors, and see quite a few of them watching you, weapons in hand.  Then, in perfect unison, they chant "We are the Youth Brigade of the Heaven and Earth Association!"  Then they charge.

Ahhh! Let's get ready to kick some monastic butt.
