Here's my party in the heat of battle.

While they look like a bunch of weaklings, they actually are pretty tough.  They have a ton of health, presumably from continuously beating the hell out of each other.  They also move really fast; they hit about 4 times each turn.  Luckily, they don't do that much damage.

For those of you who actually play the game, you might have noticed I only have 4 characters instead of the allowed 6.  I had read on the Spiderweb forums that it's actually easier with fewer characters.  It seems to be true because the characters level up faster and I don't have to spend as much training them.

Back to the monastery.  This is where you first learn the true nature of their craziness thanks to their crazy chambers.

There is the chamber of hitting each other on the head with clubs:

There is the chamber of throwing anvils:

The Chamber of Extreme Self-Deprivation

Now here's an interesting chamber: Chamber of the Pool of Acid to Walk Over.

It's so scary, you get an extra description upon entering!

"This grisly room must be for the testing of initiates. There's a pool of clear fluid, with a narrow stone ramp over it. At the bottom of the pool, you see bare bones. The fluid in the pool must be acid!"

See that bridge?  How could you not be tempted to try walking across it?  After saving, I bravely click my way across and…

"You carefully walk over the narrow stone ramp over the acid pool.  When one of you slips on a damp spot and falls in!  However, no damage occurs.  It turns out the liquid is only water.  You haul your friend out."

How weird, I guess the "Acid" is only a junior mad monk hazing trick?  And if it's only water, what's with the bones?  I guess the monks just use it to really scare the hell out of younger, in-training monks.

Another great chamber: The Chamber of Learning to Firewalk
