Rev. Willie J. Chandler, Pastor

ABOUT OUR PASTOR & HIS FAMILY

Rev. Willie J. Chandler, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church’s current pastor since June, 1999.

He is a native of Andrews (Georgetown County), South Carolina, where he currently resides with his family. He was seventeen when he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior, and he was eighteen when he accepted his calling to be a servant of the Lord.

Prior to becoming the pastor at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Chandler has served as pastor of Laura Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

According to the qualifications as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, he proclaims to be an ordained minister. As pastor, Rev. Chandler’s primary concern is for the religious, social, economical nature, and physical needs of all members of the church -- and, indeed all mankind, including the children/youth, the aged, the in firmed, the incarcerated, etc.

Rev. Chandler keeps a continual vigil over St. Mark’s members. In addition to conducting Sunday services, his duties include keeping constant watch and care over his flock/members, visiting the sick and shut-in either in their own homes, hospitals, or in nursing homes. He also oversees and actively participates in Sunday/Church School, Bible Study, and strives to keep all of the church’s ministries functioning properly.

His educational background is as follows: He graduated from Homestead Senior High School in Homestead, Florida, and continued his education at Florida Memorial University, Miami Gardens, Florida.

Rev. Chandler, and his wife – Sis. Rosetta Cooper Chandler – are the parents of five children and six grandchildren. Sis. Rosetta Chander is a graduate of Horry-Georgetown Technical College where she earned a nursing degree. She is employed with UniHealth Post Acute Care located in Moncks Corner, SC.

Rev. Chandler constantly reminds us to remember and to live the scriptural verse, “For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7) , because if we continuously study God’s Word, seek His guidance, and be obedient and faithful, He/God will not fail us.
