7-31
Went to a party today. It was lots of fun.
7-30
22:54 Just got my roommate's (correct) phone number off the internet... Lawrence forgot a digit in there. Also filled out the course selection guide for my Freshman year. My tenative class schedule can be seen on my college page. And I looked at the source code on Jenny's page and found out how she gets the background to stay in one place... she dosn't use HTML, that's how. So now I have to learn ANOTHER programming language. But that shouldn't be too bad, I mean, HTML was insanely easy to learn. Really, it was. Go out and learn it yourself and you'll see I'm telling the truth. Start at Angelfire and they'll give you a free page with lots of space and it'll be fun and easy. But I digress. I'm off to work on my JavaScripting capabilities.
7-29
12:36 I really ought to meta tag my pages and maybe index them with search engines. Now to find out how...

Later--- Feeling much better today, although my family and I went out to an Italian restaurant for dinner and I discovered that I still do not enjoy the sensation of chewing all that much, but if I'm on painkillers while I eat it's not that bad. I still really dislike getting food caught in odd and uncomfortable places, though.

Went and saw Final Fantasty again today. The original plan was to go see Planet of the Apes, but it was sold out when I got to the theater so we had to go see Final Fantasy again. It was okay both times, but the second time through I spent more time tring to figure out why the people didn't quite look real. I still don't know, but for some reason the guys look more real than the women most of the time.

Also went and saw fireworks in Stillwater (Lumberjack Days, hurrah). They were better than the ones on the 4th of July, I think, and most people seemed to share that opinion. Wow. That means I've seen fireworks three times this month. I'm usually lucky to see them once a year. Something's odd here.

7-28
19:57 I'm proud of myself, I've only had half a painkiller today. I think I'll have another half before dinner. Although I'm slightly upset- I can't recall if I've taken the antibiotic I was supposed to. Meh. I'll at least have had 2 today, which is something. And I'm pretty sure I had the one I was supposed to this afternoon, I'm just not positive.

Enough about my drug problems. Today I actually did stuff and haven't had a nap yet. I went to a graduation party, where I managed to eat some (nice and soft) cake, and watched Meet The Parents, which was okay though not great (and may I just say that yes, Mathew McCaughnehy (sic?) is, indeed, quite hot), and now it's dinner time.

7-27
I slept most of today. Actually, I got up and had breakfast (nice soft waffles) then went back to bed and half-dozed while listening to Science Friday on MPR. Apparently I missed some interesting tips on growing drug-producing plants. And anyone who paid attention to what the guy was saying about opium poppies can no longer legally grow them becuase he said something about how you get opium from them (something about the sap) but those who didn't hear (or were zoned out on painkillers at the time) can still grow them legally according to US law. Odd, non? And I also learned that the part of marijuana that you're supposed to smoke is the flower, and a plant bears a crop about every two months, and the plants can grow up to 10 or 12 feet in height, and the THC content has actually increased because of humans domesticating them. And marijuana plants are a weed. Ah, the useful things you learn from public radio.

Anyway, after Science Friday I slept more, then had soup and pudding for lunch, slept until dinner, which was pizza, and I managed to eat three slices, yay me. Of course, then I spent the next 20 minutes trying to rinse some bread out of a hole in my head, but it was good pizza.

After dinner I eschewed another painkiller and used the computer for a while. I wanted to go see Planet of the Apes, but I could only think of three people who might go see it with me. Jenny was on her way to Montana at the time, and I didn't feel like asking Victoria at the moment, so I asked the other person, who, sadly, had already seen it. But it was apparently good enough to see again so I'll finally get a chance to do that Sunday. Then I took more drugs (the perscribed kind, not the MPR kind) and went to bed.

7-26
18:32 Teeth out. No pain (yet), but my lower jaw is all numb and it sucks. 24:06 Well, I haven't felt much pain at all, and I don't think I will, unless I wake up screaming sometime tonight. Tomorrow I get to be awoken at 6 am to take antibiotics, but then I can go back to sleep so that shouldn't be too bad. And I even managed to eat some soup and ice cream today, which is good.
7-25
25:17 Tomorrow is my brother's birthday, and I get to have my wisdom teeth pulled. Ya-hoo. Jenny put up her social events calendar for the next 22 days (until she leaves for MIT), which really only served to emphasize the fact that she's leaving which will make me despondent. ("A man is not very sad, Mr. Perry, he is..." "Morose?" "Very good, Mr. Perry." And I am not very, very, very sad, I am despondent.) I thought about doing something like that, but then I remembered that I don't have a social life of which to make a calendar of. So that's a no-go for me. Though swing dancing sounds fun (every Thursday at the Wabasha Caves). Though I do not think I shall be going tomorrow). I also assembled my little brother's new bunk bed partway today. Now I'm off to find some Clipart!
7-24
22:45 Well, we got our French exchange student today, a 12-year old boy named Timothy. I also got everything squared away for the UMTYMP reunion (with Chris's help, of course). This evening we went to a Saints game. They suck. Not only did they load the bases with the first three batters and then the cleanup hitter managed to hit a grand slam, the Saints were behind 12-0 before they got their first run. We left after the eigth, with the score 12-3 and showing little chance of improvement. Now I'm all tired and going to bed soon, or at least sooner than usual. Which has been around 3, tee hee...

I also got my college schedule sort of figured out. I'll add that info later. Oh, and I got some nice sites for graphics, which I may add soon.

7-23
Went to the dentist, did nothing memorable. Nothing else to say.
7-22
20:31 Why do I always wear a brightly colored, cheap-looking plastic bracelet with the words "GOLD ELF" spelled out in letter beads on my arm?
7-21
12:57 Today is looking sort of lousy, but I think it is the day I'm going to go, if not outside, at least out, me having been so insanely BORED for the last week that I feel a compelling urge to do something or else run the risk of madness. And no, cleaning my room and writing thank-you notes do not count- that's still me sitting at home and doing boring stuff. Although they do both need to be done. Now if we can find someone to invite with us, we shall be that much more delighted.

I was looking through Lawrence's mini-history book they sent, and there's a picture of a girl from 1973 who, in profile, looks almost exactly like me! Odd, non?

23:30 Started looking at something called Cloudmasters. It's an online/reality interactive mystery/game/promotional campaign for the movie AI. I don't know too much about it yet, but from what I've see so far it is extensive. I think I'll put up a page in here for it, and I got a tip about another interactive game today at Plexata.com. I've got the first little bit so far- it's a message in base 3, but I can't figure out the flashing thing yet. Ah, well, at least this may serve to alleviate our boredom. My Plexata page is here.

7-20
18:13 Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to do any real work or learn any fun new things today, but I finally decided I had to update my links page because there are, well, things I need to make links to. And I'm going to take over the HTML and rewrite it myself because the Angelfire format is too limiting. But I appreciate what it's done for me so far (yay Angelfire).

I'm less bored today, which is a good thing. Especially since I've managed to read through all the good online comics that Alan's page is linked to. I also e-mailed my roommate today, but it will probably be late tomorrow at the earliest before I get a reply.

If anyone ever wants to go canoeing/boating/tubing/waterskiing/swimming, call me. We'd be happy to let/take you. It's not like we've anything better to do.

22:05 I really need more friends. And Germany sucks, as do its inhabitants, at least, those that I've met. (This was written in a depressive funk and not actually meant.)

7-19
20:16 I was looking through Sinfest today. I want to be a hopeless romantic! Or at least a cunning linguist (hehehe). If nothing else, someone who wears her sunglasses at night. Sigh. If only.

Lawrence sent me my room number, address, phone number and roommate assignment today. My roommate is a girl from Baden-Wurtemburg, Germany. That's right near the Swiss and French borders for the curious among you. Great, just what I need- I come back from spending a year living with Germans and Fate decides to be cruel and place me with another one for 10 more long months. We shall see how that turns out. Oh, and for those of you who care, I've got a corner room on the third floor of Plantz Hall. E-mail, write or call me if you want the address and phone number.

25:49 Saw Jurassic Park III earlier. Not nearly as good as the first, and quite similar to the second one in terms of plot, but not all that bad. Not terribly original, not very frightning (the only people that got eaten were dead within half an hour, and only one person got mangled after that) and not too well-written, but not bad, per se.

Now that it's late enough, I'm off to call my roommate in Germany.

7-18
22:33 Well, it's been a few days since I updated this... not that I haven't been online, I've just been sort of lethargic with regards to... well, everything, really. It's getting better right now, though, although it's taken almost three days to do so. I went tubing earlier, though, and gave up on a computer game, which may have helped. I think I need to get out more and just do something. I even tried studying, but that hasn't helped much, either. Must... go... on... fun... trips!
7-17
I was so bored today that by 9 I was so desperate I called Mirriam. Within half an hour I was on the way to her house, and from there we went on to the Oakdale movie theater to see Legally Blonde. It wasn't as good as I had hoped, but neither was it as bad as I had feared.
7-16
So... bored! So... very... very... bored!
7-15
19:36 I don't know why I constanly keep checking my own page. I'm the one that updates it and I know I haven't made any updates since the last time I was here, so why do I keep doing it? Even the guestbook, the only thing I'm not totally in charge of, isn't added to very frequently. Perhaps it's simply extreme boredome.

I think I shall take down my SM page. It's so unnecessary and even silly. WSS.

The cat is still missing, which is not a good or happy thing.

23:18 The kitty came back.

7-14
Happy Bastille Day!!!

22:37 Feeling so lethargic... got tired while driving home, almost fell asleep and didn't feel like doing anything. Now I'm watching Saturday Night Live while typing this. Still lethargic. Earlier I went to see Shakespeare in the Park (Free Will!) do Romeo & Juliet at Como Park, which was fun. But I didn't see Jenny, which was kind of sad. Ah well, 'twas a good performance anyway. And free, which was nice. Outdoors in a park on a lovely summer's eve, well, that was even better.

23:58 My kitty is missing, and none of us have seen her since yesterday afternoon. I'm getting anxious.

7-13
16:00 My cousins are over, and the internet is finally working for the first time today. The Blue Danube Waltz is playing on the radio (and I'm forcibly reminded of my German prepositions) and I'm soon to go swimming. Add to that the fact that I just got up from a nice little nap, and life is looking pretty good, especially for a Friday the 13th.

Went swimming with Prachi and Jenny last night at the YMCA, and then we all trooped off to Yiling's for a party. 'Twas fun. We mostly talked (much about boys) and gave Kristin a homemade soft porn book (don't ask) and Jenny braided my hair in little tiny braids and then dyed every other one or so blue. It looks... interesting, and when I take the braids out we shall see how it looks that way. Eh, I can always rebraid it so it's not as visibly hideous. We also watched The Emperor's New Groove, but I fell asleep halfway through. It was around 3 a.m.

Got up around 9:30 that morning (insanely early for me after a slumber party) and had eggs and toast for breakfast. I had a little talk with Yiling about the U (mostly) for 20 minutes until I was picked up, and then I went to the grocery store and then home. But I was still sleepy, so I took a nap. When I awoke, my cousins were here, as were my brother and sister who had been at my Grandmother's. SO that's life for me for now.

Shakespeare in the Park at 7:00 pm at Como Park tomorrow night, doing Romeo and Juliet!!! Go see it if you can! Free Shakespeare! Yay!

7-12
19:01 Put up a Monty Python story that I found on today's page of my desk calendar. I'd heard Eric Idle doing the bit before, but now that I have a print version I think I'll share it with my loyal fan base. That's right, I'll share it with Jenny. Mwa ha ha ha ha.

Speaking of Jenny, I'm going swimming with Jenny and Prachi tonight, and then Jenny and I are off to a weekend-long Chica Noche. Full of makeup, hairstyling, leg and bikini waxing, eating carrots and celery and then throwing them up- wait, all but that last bit. Oh yeah, and movie watching. Fun fun. So if I'm not here for a while, I'm off being tortured.

Oh yes. I went to the doctor today and recieved a clean bill of health, my hearing is good, no scoliosis, no infections anywhere and I'm now innoculated against meningitis. The hemoglobin count and TB test results will be back in a few days, but I doubt there's anything bad that will show up there. So I'm all set for college, healthwise at least.

7-11
12:55 Working on putting up a German version of my jounal, 'cause Lissy said I should. And since I like Lissy, I am. I'm just copying this page to a translator program, though, and then adding in all the code afterwards. It's working pretty well, although it is a little tedious. But I'm already done with the entries for July and the rest should go pretty smoothly, too.

13:55 Wow, I'm done with the German version, and it only took an hour and a half! And that's with a computer program doing most of the work, too! Gosh, this sucks. I'm out to play in the sun for a while.

1ish Saw Final Fantasy. Stayed pretty true to the games, also pretty similar in format, but then the last few games have almost been like interactive movies in some ways. It was good, though, I liked it. Couple that with the fact that I went and saw it with 14 of Jenny's friends, some of whom made irreverent comments during the parts where irreverent comments were required, and I'd say I had a lot of fun. Plus I guessed right about what the 8th spirit was (very formulaic, that movie), so Jenny owes me a dime. But then we set up an agreement that if I didn't see the LOTR movie 8 times within 2 months of it coming out, and 3 of those within the first week, then I'd owe her a dime. So let me think about this... See no movies, loose the bet, pay her 10 cents. Net gain: +$0.10 See 8 movies, win the bet, she pays ne 10 cents but I'm out $56 in tickets. Net gain: -$55.90. I'll deliberate this one later.

7-10
Didn't get online at all today. I hate my brother. On a more positive note, Cal Ripken was named MVP of the All-Star Game, the American League having won for the 5th time in a row. (Yay, AL!) Hmmm... I wonder if my baseball loyalties will change once I go off to college. I doubt it.

Found out Kejia can't come to Canada wiht me and Jenny, which sucks. Stupid overprotective paranoid parents... Ah well, at least there's a chance for us to go somewhere... closer. Like Duluth. Ooh, Duluth, what fun. Grrr. But camping still remains as a possibility. Hmm. WSS.

7-9
17:34 I finally got the internal page links to work!!! Then I went to work on the Sailor Moon page. What else... went to the optomitrist today. Right eye = one power worse, left eye = unchanged. I also tried to work out stuff for a trip to Canada. We shall see how that works out.

23:15 Found a really cool code for table-format calendars while looking through HTML Goodies, but then I realized I didn't have anywhere to put it or anything to do with it. Ah, well. Better I realize I don't need it than clog up my site with useless code.

7-8
Played computer games, read for a bit, took a pool float out onto the lake and paddled around for a bit on that, then lay reading on it for a while. Got slightly sunburned. Still, it was fun lying there in inch-deep water (not the greatest of floats) and reading while drifting around the lake. Pity my back didn't get very dark, though I now have very distinct tan/burn lines where my swimsuit was on my front. I shall work on this tomorrow.

Oh yeah. My sister left for camp till Friday, and then she leaves again for another week on Sunday. Hurray!!!

7-7
24:55 All hopes of trying to do anything were dashed when I called Mirriam for our routine Saturday telephone conversation, then messed up by inviting her over. Which was fun, don't get me wrong, it's just that I couldn't use the internet while she was here and learn cool new tricks. Add to that the fact that my grandfather was over for dinner so I couldn't do it before, either, and that we only have 1 computer with functioning internet for the time being, it took a while just to get online. Now I need to run off and plan my road trip for August so that my parents will actually let me go on it.
7-6
23:13 Right, I managed to learn the basics of JavaScript (thank you, Webmonkey!) and managed to get Amanda to start a page, too! Also went to Barnes & Noble today, got some books... cheeseburgers for dinner again, just like every Friday. Ho hum. Didn't do much else.

25:24 Put up a guestbook! Took a while, because I'm always leery of people that ask you for your address on the web, even though they say it's free. Gave them the address for Wrigley Field, á laBlues Brothers; now I just hope they don't send any mail for me there. Oh well, no worries! Instead, off to bed!

7-5
26:14 That's right, twenty-six hundred. The day doesn't start for me until dawn, or possibly when I wake up again. So as far as I'm concerned it's still the 5th and I can write all I want here. Also cuts down on the confusion for me.

I had fun today. My dad had one of his friends from out of town over for dinner (the theater guy, very fun) and then I went to my friends' house for a party. We played some sort-of board game and then walked to a nearby park to play Ultimate Frisbee for a while and then had a little fire in their yard and talked and ate marshmellows. I left there at 12 and got back around 12:45. At roughly one I called my Finnish friend Kaarina and talked to her for 40 minutes or so, which was wonderful, especially as I have not seen her now for about two months. Sob. I also did a little color scheming/backrounding for my various pages. Now I shall go off to bed.

7-4
24:53 Finally learned hexcodes thanks to Webmonkey!! Jenny couldn't explain it to me so when I came across the article I decided to read it and it explains things!!! The first two digits control the red intensity; the second two, green; the last two digits control the amount of blue. And the letters a-f are the numbers 10-16 in base 16. It's all so clear now!

23:27 Just added the word "sex" to my meta tag. I wonder how many hits I'll have by tomorrow at this time. :)

23:23 It's been a long day. I awoke at 10:20, took a shower and was out the door at 10:50, on my way to St. Paul with my little brother. We met my aunt and uncle at their house and then drove over to the Greenway in Minneapolis (29th St) to look at the art displays there. Sadly, there wasn't all that much, but we were hopeful and kept walking until we reached the end (which is actually where the next entrance ramp was, too).

After that we walked up Lake St. until we found a decent place to sit and waited until the Art on Wheels parade came by. It was really cool. Anything on wheels, as long as it was decorated artistically, was allowable. They had lots of cars (my favorite was one covered in wine bottle corks), some neat bikes and some two-tier bikes (bikes with two or more frames stacked above the other) and some decorated bikes/bikers, and one guy on rollerblades wearing a costume that was covered in CDs. After the parade was over my aunt & uncle took us to Falafel King for Middle Eastern fast food (yummy!) and then we went back to the Greenway and walked the OTHER way. There was more going on up there, although that was partly becuase it was later in the day and some of the stuff wasn't starting until 1 or later anyway. They had a juggler, though, who was both good and amusing, which is always a quality I admire (and usually require) in a juggler. Like the Flying Karamazov Brothers.

When we had looked at everything there was to see on the Greenawy, we drove back to my aunt & uncle's house to pick up my car, and then I drove down to the St. Croix with my brother for the annual 4th of July picnic with my grandfather's neighbors, then went to Stillwater to watch fireworks with my friends. As I was watching, I realized that these were nothing particularly special, that the magic had gone out of watching them. It was then that I realized how spoiled and jaded we have become with regards to fireworks, and what seems passé to me now would have blown someone away 20 years ago. This also served as a reminder to how spoiled we are as a society in general, which continually amazes me.

7-3
16:01 While stealing code from Angelfire in the name of education (they have it there for the purpose of letting people steal it! Really!) and reformatting it for my own uses, I realized that I'm a really messy codewriter. I should change that.

15:42 Finishing up the table I started yesterday (yay, learning more HTML stuff!!!). I'm also peeling a whole lot from the sunburn I got last Wednesday.

7-2
Started making a table of useful phrases I know in other languages. No swear words, though, more's the pity. There's a link to it on my main page (see if you can find out which one it is!) or you can just click here. Didn't quite finish before I left to go to Taste of Minnesota with Jenny and some others. Will do so tomorrow.
7-1
14:06 It's Mom's birthday today. I got up, got dressed and walked out to where she was tanning, wished her happy birthday and gave her a little hug. I've done my duty for today. Now it's time to add in stuff from the past several days, since Angelfire stopped being dumb and finally let me access my page.

14:27 Did something new today- added funky charachters to my page. Most of the codes seem pretty logical, if you use the word codes. The numbers I do not understand, since they're different from the numbers I use to make the same charachters in Word. Hmph.
