18:10 Sometimes it starts, and it goes on and on and on and on and on and on and it never STOPS!!!!!!! I just want to scream right now!!!!! AUGH!
Monday, April 29th
Took a shower before econ, went there, took notes, came back and had lunch (and also folded clothes), went to math, didn't totally bomb my math test (but I didn't do well), came back here and folded the rest of my clothes, cleaned more of the room, took a nap,
Sunday, April 28th
23:46 Got up around 9:30, waited/tried calling Ace until 10 when we decided to just leave and wait for them there, on the offchance that they had already left, not called and were waiting for us. We waited until 11:15, when Mom called to say that Ace had just called and they were leaving now, so they'd be where we were in an hour. Because of that, my dad and I went to the nearby restaurant and had breakfast. Fortunately for me it was a really NICE place (well, unfortunate in that I was waay underdressed for it, but fortunate because they had nice brekky), so they had eggs benedict. Yum! The eggs came with hash browns and a bagel, no less, so it was a super-duper meal. Yay! Then we went and sat in the car and read for ten minutes or so until the van showed up. I did a crossword puzzle, or part of one, with Eli and Brian until we stoped for lunch. Having just had a big, fancy breakfast, I only got an ice cream cone. Ate that there while the others had lunch, got back in the van and slept in the back for three hours.

Got back to school at 5:30, threw my clothes in the dryer and folded a few more from the load I had done a week ago. Took the garbage out, heated up some dinner and gathered up my now-dry clothes. Took them back to my room, did Nothing Much for an hour or so, then got ready for the Theta meeting. Having been warned this time, I wore black pants, and was intending to wear a nice shirt but it was all wrinkly. Smoothed out the wrinkles as best I could (not very well), put on my pin (without resorting to the "special method" I had learned

25:10 Allen says if you search for "Gold Elf" on Yahoo, my page is the first that comes up! Yay! I don't even know how long ago I put in my page for spidering, but apparently they got around to it eventually! Yay! Allen also told me to get some funk, so I did. And it was good.

Thursday, April 25th
26:22 I learned all about bonsai today!
Wednesday, April 24th
Went to breakfast around 10, did a little light review for econ in Briggs, then took a half hour nap. Went to econ and took the quiz, which I felt really confident about. I also managed to finish in time which a lot of other people didn't do, AND I got the same answer on the last one as the other girl that finished on time. Then Nagase lectured which was nothing noteworthy. Went to lunch and ate quickly with Kate and some other people, came back to my room and put my laundry in the dryer, went to math and sat through that.

After math I came back, got my laundry, did Nothing Much and headed off to meet Sara for Theta ed. at 4:30. Stayed till 5:15, came back and did some math, dropped it off and went to bed.

Tuesday, April 23rd
18:24 Got up at 1, took a shower, had some oatmeal for breakfast, got dressed and brushed my hair (I miss my bathrobe), went to class, took 7 pages of notes because class ended early (else I would have taken around 12). The reason class ended early was so that some people if they wanted to could go to a talk on intellectual property rights and protection in China today. I went, since both Professors Doeringer and Nagase had mentioned it, and besides it's what I'm interested in anyway, sort of. I mean, I'd be more interested in Japanese financial situations, but East Asia and business of any sort will do it. The talk was actually really interesting and I learned a lot, though it isn't hard considering I knew little going in. But it was interesting and amusing even had I known something, so that's good. Gah, this tea is terrible. Went to dinner after the lecture, sat with Kim and Tasha, came back here, typed this and soon shall go do laundry. I promise, really I will.

19:20 Did laundry. Well, it's in the washing machine right now but I'm DOING laundry. Yay me!

Monday, April 22nd
13:02 As long as I stay involved in and occupied with the here and now, I seem to be okay. It's when I let my mind wander that I begin to have problems. No more thinking!

17:07 I thought I had something profound to say, but now I have forgotten it. It was webcomic influenced anyway, so it can't have been THAT profound. Oh, and I figured I might as well move my March stuff to its own page now, since it seems clear I'm not going to add to it anymore.

21:00 Just got an offer to go to Boston this summer for four days, all expenses paid. The only things are that I'd have to go to meetings every Tuesday from now till the end of the year, and it's a Christian Science workshop so I'd be there for THAT, and not just for fun. Ah well. Shall consider it, that's for damn sure.

23:19 Back from tutoring Joyce. We didn't get much done, in part because we were interrupted many times (she was working and when she was trying to solve a problem I was surfing the net) and in part because she works so slowly because she's trying to understand the dang problem. But that's okay, as long as she works that out with Professor Jordan (which I'm sure is no problem). We're also meeting later in the week too, to make sure she's all okay with everything.

Sunday, April 21st
19:46 Leaving in half an hour to become a Theta pledge. Kind of nervous about it, just a little. Didn't get to shower beforehand, but I'm going to change at least. Showing up to my pledge ceremony in jeans and a sweatshirt isn't a good thing. If there is a ceremony... I really have little idea of what I'm getting into.

Got up at 1, having just missed brunch at Downer due to my thinking it closed at 1:30. So Amanda and I went to Perkins and had brekky there, then got groceries (snacks) and went to get fish. Took us a while to agree on what we wanted, but eventually we agreed on getting two fan-tailed goldfish (bigger and prettier than regular goldfish) and a betta, with a bowl for the betta and a little aquarium for the other two. Came back here and assembled the aquariums and transferred the fish, went to dinner with Amanda, came back and watched half of the new Sabrina until she and I both had to leave, and then we left.

22:51 So, now I'm officially a Theta pledge. I got a pin and all that, and they put me through these silly rituals which are all secret that I can't describe here because they're secret, duh. And they had a little glass there that I was a little worried through the whole ceremony I might have to refuse it because it contained alcohol, but then I decided I'd just go ahead and drink it down and oh well, or spit it out and ruin everything or something else, I don't know, but in the end it turned out to be okay 'cause it was just grape juice. After the ceremony was over they turned the lights on (oh yeah the ceremony was done by "candlelight") and the meeting continued regularly. It was interesting, I suppose. I'll have to get used to it, since I have three plus years of it to look forward to. Afterward I set up a meeting with the new member info person and talked to someone about Theta housing, and that was that. Oh yeah, and they told me a cute way to put on my pledge pin that's also very wrong, but no one over the age of twenty reads this anyway, so here goes: my mentor told me you grab your breast, and where your pointer finger is, that's right where the pin goes, and it works every time. Dirty, but effective. Anyway...

Got back here just in time for my parents' phone call. Mostly it was Mom who wanted to talk to me, all interested in what had gone on at initiation, I think mostly to make sure it was official and everything. Think she also wanted to know if anything had changed, but mostly it was for that reason. Oh, and she was all worried that I was underdressed, because I was only wearing jeans and a normal shirt, but everyone else was too so I was fine. She thought it was all supposed to be super-formal though and almost flipped when I told her what I wore, but she calmed down some when I said that everyone else was dressed the same. Hung up, finished watching the movie and then spread the joy of this picture to some friends. Planned to meet Ann at 7:30 for breakfast, and invited Mollie to come with us. Mollie told me shortly afterwards that the dress for meetings was semi-formal, just so I knew. Ooops. But now I know, so I'm good. Bed soon, since I am awaking in six hours or so.

Saturday, April 20th
Woke up at 5:50, two hours after I went to sleep. I think. Got to the ORC house before almost everybody else, went back and grabbed my jacket and by the time I returned, almost everyone was there! Yay! Got into the van, where I had a backseat all to myself, laid down and slept for the entire two and a half hours. Yay! We played Point our first game, and almost won (did win, save for a technicallity/spirit thing). Second game was against Madison, who we had no chance with. Third and final game vs. Eau Claire, who we CREAMED. First ever win this season! YAY LUV! Then we went to Grace's and had hot dogs and s'mores and beans and potato salad and it was all so yummy and Grace's mom was so nice for doing that for us. Yay! Then we came home and I chilled all night, or what was left of it since we didn't get back until pretty late. Now I'm going to sleep 'cause it's really late. Yay!
Friday, April 19th
Professor Nagase told us an amusing little anecdote today. She was telling us about her intro-level microeconomics class (this was to illustrate some point about the difference between American and other cultures). On the midterm she asked the question, "Are peanut butter and jelly supplements or compliments? Explain." All the Americans put that they were compliments, because as the price of peanut butter goes up, people buy less jelly because you can't have as much peanut butter and jelly on your bread anymore. The international students, on the other hand, put that they're supplements, because as the price of peanut butter goes up, you buy more jelly so that you can have that on your bread instead of peanut butter. Conclusion: the rest of the world doesn't eat peanut butter with jelly, which is different and wrong.
Thursday, April 18th
24:16 Finally getting slightly bored with FF4. But I'm almost done, too. So I just have to finish it up tomorrow, and then I'll stop. No more games, or at least, only in very moderated quanties. VERY moderated. Anyway... listened to Charlie's radio show, which Dan is on, tonight. Requested Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower, which Dan apparently had never heard of. He described it to Charlie as "Something with the word Watchtower." How can you NOT know what that song is? My god... But then, I had never heard the song "Tiny Dancer" which seemed to appall him the other night, so I guess we're even. Also called to compliment the show, because it was a damn fine show, indeed, "The Best Rock Can Be."

What did I do today...? Hmmm... well, I got up at just before 11, because I had been incoherent through my alarms which was a Bad Thing, but I got up in time anyway, which was a Good Thing. Got my schedule sorted out after much running around and consulting with three people, only one of whom was my advisor. But things got worked out. Then I discovered that Aubra was NOT in the Science Hall atrium like she had said she might have been, so I got out of having to do that for PEL. Went to lunch instead, and encountered Dan in line. Had salmon, and sat with him and Charlie. I don't know... something about Dan is making me think less of him for some reason. Maybe it's his awkwardness. It might also be my own fault, though, in that I am less funny than he is, which makes me jealous. So I shall try not to be unsupportive and mean around him, because that would just be small-minded of me. Which I try to avoid.

After lunch I went back to my room and filled in the rest of my schedule based on what I had learned. Given all that, I still have two spaces to fill next year, without considering overloading. Then again, professor Yang suggested I only minor in Japanese, and I still have my GenEds to get out of the way. So it's not completely open, but I have some more leeway now than I thought I did before. Will fill the rest out later. After I got bored with that I played FF4 until it was time for MEAC, stuffed shorts and a t-shirt in my bag and went off to class. We watched a vid, then discussed the Chinese view of things making communication impossible because even if they could translate everything perfectly, the motives and mindsets were to different for them to understand the other side. Also, we got our quizzes back, and I got a 10/10.

As soon as class was over I went into the bathroom and changed, then headed over to the ORC house where Joyce was waiting to bring me to frisbee practice. Did throwing-in-massive-wind drills, gave up on that and did running/sprint drills, then scrimaged for a bit. Did calisthenics after that, then went home. I came back with Joyce and Al, and had dinner with them (and later Peter). Interesting sidenote: Joyce wants me to be her stats tutor. Yay me.

After dinner went back to my room and changed to go usher. Went over there, but there was no recital. It was one of those "iffy" dates, of course, but it still upset me mildly that I was all dressed up and had nothing to do. Came back to my room and used the free time to play massive amounts of FF4. Which I've almost finished, now.

Monday, April 15th
Beware, taxpayer, beware the ides of April!

17:37 I need to wear less underwear and less shirt with these pants. Or else more pants with my underwear and this shirt.

Saturday, April 13th
24:48 Got up before noon, cleaned a bit (yay me), did crossword puzzles and read the comics from the past week, went to the MathFest thing for part of it, came back and played Final Fantasy for most of the day. Oh, and the bad news turns out to be not as bad as originally was thought.
Friday, April 12th
24:56 I think today has been a really good day, despite. That's right, no noun at the end. Just despite. Went for a walk this afternoon with Ann and Megan and Denissa and a prospie, had dinner with most of them plus a few, went to my room to chill and be alone for a while, watched Star Wars with some of the same few from dinner in the library- they have one really nice viewing room. After the movie was over I went to the suitcase dance for a bit, and Jonas was kind enough to spend 5-10 minutes with me. Then he and his freind left, and I hung around and danced with the ten other girls, and since there were so few people there to look foolish in front of. Besides, I had fun doing it so it was alright. Didn't win anything, though, which was sad. Ah well. Also came to my room between the movie and the dance and got some bad news, but the good outweighs the slightly bad. Played some Zelda when I came back to my room around midnight, and soon shall go to sleep. Nighty-night!
Thursday, April 11th
17:43 I've been having a really good day so far. I didn't get up until 1 pm, at which point I went downstairs and put my luandry in the washing machines, and also put some lunch in the microwave to heat up while I was sorting my laundry in lights and coloreds. Brought lunch upstairs and ate while playing Zelda, got dressed in "leftover" clothing since most of what I like is in the wash. Turned out to be a good thing, though, because the pants go well with the shirt and both actually look really nice on me, in addition to feeling pretty comfortable. Went to class where I sat next to Tasha again (yay). We watched a video on Samurai Japan and then discussed the leaders of China and Japan based on outside assignments. Oh yeah, and took a quiz. I wonder how I did...

After class I went off to the LUCC meeting, which went incredibly fast compared to what I've seen so far. It only took an hour, which was amazing. When that was over I came back here, put my laundry in the dryer and made plans with Mollie and Barb to have pizza for dinner. Now I'm off to a meeting on hosting Waseda University students, and then shall be back for dinner around 6:30. Off I go!

So. The Waseda meeting wasn't that interesting, and they had little information that wasn't known to me, but I put my name down on a list so at least the meeting had a purpose. Came back and had pizza and watched Wheel of Fortune with Mollie, Barb and Amanda, moved my laundry into the dryer, got dressed for "work," went and passed out programs and made sure no one went in when they shouldn't (for which they pay me. Ha!), came back and changed into slightly grubbier clothes, went to Riverview and tie-dyed with the Thetas, which was really a way to give them a chance to talk with us (and have us talk with them) so they can determine if they want us to join. WSS what happens with that. When I had colored my socks to me own satisfaction (and it was 8:50), Kate and I left to pick up the DVD player from the Theta room. Since we were there, we stopped in at the Kappa COB event, which was to have ice cream and play games. I didn't play any games, but I did go have ice cream and talked with some of the Kappas while Kate got the DVD player.

Wednesday, April 10th
Sigh. Nothing works. Sad am I. Sigh.
Tuesday, April 9th
23:49 Sorry I haven't been updating lately or well... It's cause I got Final Fantasy 4 for my computer and have been doing that in my free time... and my not-so-free time. Oops.
Sunday, April 7th
15:48 It snowed last night. I know cause I saw a thin layer of snow on the ground when awoke around 11. However, when I got up around 1, the snow had melted. Hurray! Now it's just kind of gray and drizzly, but that beats white and snowy, at least it does in April.

Got up and took a shower, since I was still all gross and nasty from the day before, having fallen into bed in exhaustion without doing much else the night before. Felt all clean and pretty when I got out, but I didn't want to deal with my oh-so-nassty feet. Stupid frisbee, for tearing up my oh-so-pretty feet like that. Sigh. Had a lunch of Chef Boyardee's "ABC-123's" and cocoa, read 30 pages of Emperor of China while consuming a Diet Sprite and half-listening to some golf tournament (which Amanda was watching), and now am typing this. Soon I shall play Amanda's hacked copy of Final Fantasy 4, which she got a long time ago back when you could still pirate old Nintendo games off the internet. Yay!

Saturday, April 6th
Got in to Grace's sister's house at about 1, 1:30. Went to sleep almost immediately, since I had been ditting shotgun the whole way and thus wasn't allowed to sleep in the van. (Shotgun has to stay awake to talk to the driver and keep them entertained so they don't falll asleep and drive off the road and kill everyone.) Got up at 6:30 and drove to Kalamazoo (slept the whole way). Got to Kalamazoo at 9, but didn't get to the fields until 9:45 because the directions we had sucked and we wandered around in circles forever. Played a not-so-great game against Hope College which we lost 13-3. Next we played MSU and played better, but we still weren't playing really well. Lost 13-2. Did the YMCA cheer for them, and they absolutely loved it and thought we had done such a great job. Yay us. After that we played the #1 seed of the tournament, Iowa State. Lost 13-1 in a pretty quick game, but we threw a cup on them for three of the points which really frustrated them and was the reason we got that one point on them- they didn't know how to deal with it and ended up dropping the disc (which is the theory behind a cup) near our endzone and we were able to make a quick point on them. Yay us! After that we played Illinois, a very very quick game which we lost 13-1.

Almost as soon as our cheer was over and we had stretched out, we left. Drove to Grace's sister's house in hopes of gettting dinner (pre-arranged) but she wasn't there. We left a note thanking her for letting us stay there and Grace wrote one saying something cute and familial, and then we left. Had dinner at a Culver's in the same town, and I had my first "frozen custard." Really just ice cream with a little extra egg in it, but it was some damn fine ice cream. Drove the rest of the way from there to Chicago without stopping, took a potty break in Chicago and drove from there to Appleton. Got in at 11:30, putzed around on the computer and unpacked while watching Conan (sort of) before going to bed around 12:30. Awfully tired, I was.

Friday, April 5th
CONGRATULATIONS, PETER! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
20:18 My little brother just took 2nd place in the MN State Geography Bee. I think this is the most spectacular achievement he's ever done (what is the verb that goes with achievement, anyway? Earned, maybe? English majors, clue me in.) This puts him on a level with 100 other pre-high schoolers in the COUNTRY. Innat special? He's such a good kid, too. (well, usually...)

Anyway.... got up at 9 and went to breakfast. Sat with Kyle and Sue (and we were later joined by two others) and half-worked on my math while eating. Made a lunchbox, went to Briggs and did some homework. By the time econ started, I had 1, 2 and 4 done. Econ was nice though semi-uninteresting, after which I went to a room in Briggs and had lunch while finishing my homework. Got through #5 fairly easily, but didn't finish #3 until 1:15. I did finish, though. Went to math, took notes and then turned in our homework at the end of class. Felt really great because I had managed to get everything done, and I think it was pretty good. Such a nice feeling. After class I went to the campus activities office and looked at movie listings, but they didn't have any anime besides Princess Mononoke. Which meant that we have to show movies illegally, but that was already a strong possibility. Took a nap, went to dinner (alone), came back here and now I'm leaving for a frisbee tournament in Kalamazoo, MI. So off I go!

Thursday, April 4th
13:58 Had time to update after lunch, an hour and a half almost, but I didn't. Also had time before lunch, another hour there, but didn't for different reasons. Did a bit of reading for East Asian Civ both times, and was distracted by (different) other things as well. I did get to IM both Justin and Kaarina after lunch, which was a super-happy-fun treat. Now I have to go off to class. Updating later, I promises.

19:36 Went from class (where I took 6 1/2 pages of notes) straight to an LUCC meeting. Sat there for two hours, and the only real thing I got out of it was some free pop and getting to see Cole tell everyone that what Chris Worman had been doing for the past two years was wrong. That was mildly amusing, but the rest of it was pretty blah. I did spend a lot of time going over the LUCC rules and learned some interesting things about budgeting for my club that I shall relay to the others at the meeting which is conveniently (or perhaps not so conveniently, since I have to talk to someone else about finance things before anything can be firmly decided) scheduled for tonight. Shall go to that and talk to them. After that WSS what else happens.

After the LUCC meeting I went straight to Downer (after a brief conversation with Tariq and Cene, that is) and sat with Mollie, Barb and Damaris who were kind enough to wait until I had eaten before leaving, even though when I had come in they were all practically finished. Sweet of them. Then I went and got ice cream with Mollie, the two of us sat out in the lobby with Barb for a few minutes before starting back to Plantz (Barb had had surgery a few days ago and it still hurt to move excessively). Came back to my room and typed this while avoiding math homework, which really isn't that bad. Not right now, at least. Shall do it soon, I really will. Esp. since it's due tomorrow. Though luckily I have time before econ now. Yay!

23:32 Why can't real life leave me alone and let me be as antisocial as I want? With that in mind: stupid frisbee.

Wednesday, April 3rd
20:11 Okay, I know it's already the third, but I haven't finished backlogging so I'm going to keep March stuff on this page until it gets done. Apologies are over; journaling may begin.

Got back recently from my RLA interview, which I think went well. Also participated in (half of) my very first seder. Had to leave early because of said interview. Spent a little time after the interview talking with various people and playing with Play-Dough, then came back here and talked with Mollie and Barb for a little bit. Now I'm off to go shopping with Amanda. Yay!

Back from shopping. I got three pairs of socks, some new conditioner and a few random "toys" for Whitney's birthday present. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got snacks and breakfast foods. Manda also got an ice tea maker, which is a waste of money, plastic and space in my opinion, but it's hers to waste. Needs must address space concerns with her soon, though, since 'tis a shared commodity and she's taking my "share" of it. But that can be worked on this weekend when she has time, and next weekend when I'm here. No rush.

Hmmm, what else? Ah yes, had prophetic/warning dreams that got me out of bed on time, since my alarm had indeed been somehow turned off. Econ was amusing but nothing special, had lunch with Kyle and Sue and Dan and Damaris and Marissa and Adrianna and another girl who I don't know (nothing terribly memorable to talk about), math was blurry, went and saw about a tutor only to learn that Parks doesn't let his students have tutors, so I just have to see him which isn't so bad but ah well. McNeill wasn't in, so I didn't get my registration slip signed (grr) but I did go see the people in Brokaw about my phone and they said they'd get on it. Found out (via e-mail from the VCSC) that Lisa wasn't going to be coming so I didn't need to tutor her. Skipped practice anyway, though I did go running for a bit (ran a whole mile plus). Met Andrew on my way out of the Rec Center and had a lovely little chat with him, came back and got dressed for the Seder. Should add more about that if I think to do so. But perhaps not, since it's (just) past 1 and I want some sleep. So I shall do that tomorrow, if at all. Night, net.

Oh yes, as an afterthought, I ought to scan in more pics of me and other people and add them in somewhere.

Tuesday, April 2nd
13:42 I feel foolish now. Just before lunch Allen IM'd me and pointed out that the thing on LG about them being sued by Microsuck was posted on April 1st. April Fool's day. Oops.

20:50 Slightly bored. I've been back in my room for about an hour and a half, and shall soon be leaving with Ann for a weird and random concert, but that's not for another ten minutes or so. I finished reading the April Fool's Day issue of The Lawrentian a few minutes ago, and have had nothing to do since. Sigh. Twenty whole minutes of languishing and doing nothing! Sob. Ah well, I'll survive. At least the concert will be good, or entertaining at the very least.

23:17 Got back from the concert recently. It was like a Connie version of satiric comedy. Amusing, since I used to be a music person, and I think Ann found it about as funny. Dan, however, who also accompanied me, didn't seem to think it was quite as amusing. Left in the middle to go to an ushering meeting in which I signed up for most Thursdays between now and reading period, because I would be gone most weekends. Which I'm kind of upset about- being gone, that is. Also means I'd be missing out on having Thursday evenings free, but that would have happened sort of anyway, since I have anime club meetings at 9. But anyway... now I just need to add in those dates on my calendar, brush my teeth and go to bed. Night, net-world.
