WEREWOLVES
Character Specifications:
Abilities:
Werewolves are very much like ordinary people with
the ability, or rather the misfortune, of transforming into a large humanoid
wolf during the full moon. They are unable to control this change and need to be
smartly confined and shackled to prevent them from killing all night. When in
their Cronos form, or werebeast form, they are nauseatingly powerful. Only the
thickest chains can be used to restrain them, and they must be attached to
something sturdy, or all hell may break loose. Only Aged werewolves, who were
not morphed into werebeasts by magic, or who were born into their plight rather
than infected (bitten), have the ability to control when and where they
transform with or without the aid of the full moon.
Werewolves have a close kinship with nature that is
unlearned and are adept at finding familiars for magic use. Werewolves are magic
users, but which variety lies solely in the player. Elves must learn to instruct
animals, but the werewolf can instinctively command them.
Another strength, besides the awesome power of
Cronos form (in which claws can tear through automobiles), lies in the fact that
werewolves can blend in with crowds, because they appear as your every day magic
user. Naturally, if a Werewolf in human form were to come in the mere vicinity
of a deer or horse, the animal would bolt, in fear for its life. All werewolves
who study magic gain the ability to transform into the form of a normal wolf
whenever necessary. When a flashlight is shone in the eyes of a werewolf in
human form, their eyes will reflect yellow, as a dog or cat would. The same is
true for photos.
Weaknesses:
Like vampires, Werewolves are severely allergic to
silver. They may be killed with a shot from a silver bullet, as the silver will
spread like a poison throughout the werewolf’s body. If a silver platter was
sitting on a table in the room where a werewolf was casting, the effect lies in
how aware the caster is. If the caster is aware of the platter, his
concentration will break, and will be unable to cast. If he is unaware, the
spell will go as planned.
Not quite a weakness, but more of an amusing side
note, Werewolves can eat. A lot. In fact, a dwarf and a werewolf could eat for
hours. And raw meat at that, should the werewolf make that discovery about
himself.
Some Origins:
The Aged Werewolves have been around for centuries
all across the globe focusing primarily in Europe, North America, and Australia.
Werebeasts have been reported across the centuries. The gene is passed down
through the mother’s side of the family. This is known as a Purewolf. The other
way of becoming a werewolf before the age of magic was to be bitten by a
werewolf, in any form. The bite of a werewolf must break the skin and bring
forth blood to work.
The Rebirth of Magic:
Magic finds its protégés in the most unexpected of
places, and it seems that a majority of morphed werewolves have come from Native
American descent. Many of these werewolves travel in packs, in and out of
cities, hardly ever without the others except in personal matters. The lone wolf
usually either means he has not found a pack, or has done something to get
removed from one. The power of the pack amplifies the power of spells when cast
as a group.
Werewolves and Religion:
Many rely on the Great Spirit as a source of their
power, and make powerful healers. Those who are not pure of heart however, are
sometimes morphed into Drow.
Werewolves and Society:
Werewolves have a tendency to be just as friendly as
everyone else, and some do not yet know they ARE werewolves.
How Other Races View Werewolves:
Humans: “Just like everyone else, keep it
under control. Or I’ll break out Grandma’s silverware.”
Elves: “Ok…so how do I train the dog to go outside and not on the
carpet?”
Vampires: “They have a tendency to lose control a little too easily, and
I find them to be rather feral and short tempered. I suppose everyone is a
little misunderstood, but I doubt it. “
Drow: “They are rather like Drow lite, aren’t they? Only without the
spine to do what their instincts tell them to. The best werewolf is one that
uses Cronos form to their advantage. The rest are as weak as the other cattle”
Fae: “Good! Doggy sit! Doggy beg!…AHHH! BAD DOGGY!”
Dwarves: “There are enough burgers for the both of us…if you combine that
McDonalds…and that Burger King…and about 20 extra employees…if they serve beer
too, we have a deal.”
Trolls: “You kidding…little guy ate car? HA HA HA!”
Orcs: “Eh…I can use one as a healer, if they keep their shit under
control. Otherwise Cronos is too unpredictable, and too much power. Talk about
Jekyll and Hyde…”
Sidhe: “At least we don’t have to transform to show you who we really
are.”
