SnowForum: I'm here with Blaize Mason, the one and only, and he is going to be interviewed right now about how awesome and spectacular he is as a snowboard and we are going to discover the secrets to his success. So Blaize, first off, what trick do you love to pull off most.

Blaize: Well that would be the traditional style porn star.

SnowForum: Could you explain to us, for those who don't know, what a porn star is, because that could be taken the wrong way?
Blaize: Well, for those who are idiots, a porn star is where you put your hands behind your head, pull your board up to your butt, and move the pelvis area back and forth.
SnowForum: That's truly disgusting. But just to go on, who or what influences your riding, what influences stuff like that?
SnowForum:Very good but why do girls influence your riding?
Blaize: I'd like to re-answer that. I snowboard because ... hang on (pause). The people that influence me most are Travis [White] and Corby [Walsh], they really get me motivated.
Blaize: Girls.
SnowForum: All right. So why do Travis and Corby motivate you so much? What makes them so special?
Blaize: They're around my age and they're better than me. It pushes me further.
SnowForum: Very nice answer. So, I'd like to ask you what trend in snowboarding do you think should go away?
Blaize: Camo pants and jacket. Cuz you're not out there to look like a frickin' tree!
SnowForum: All right, that's very good. So, after all your snowboarding success, what do you do to keep it real?
Blaize: Well, you know, I push myself to the max every time I'm out there and I try bigger air, harder tricks, to perfect them, to the perfection that is needed.
SnowForum: I see, so you like to push yourself a lot. So, what about when others ride, what trick do you like to see other riders try more than any other. What is the most beautiful trick?
Blaize: Well the most beautiful trick, I would have to say, would be the rodeo porn star (laughs).
SnowForum:I've never heard of a rodeo porn star. I didn't know that you could combine those two tricks but from what I know about you, that sounds like you. Okay, so Blaize, what do you think about the Boyne Highlands lift operators and pass checkers?
Blaize: Do I have to answer that?

Blaize: Umm, some of them are dorks, bunch of losers and the lift operators I would have to say are cooler because they don't ask you for your pass every time you come down the run.

SnowForum: Yes.
SnowForum: Yeah, I like all of the lift operators except for that one on [the] Challenger [lift], he's pretty idiotic. Yes, yes, to be nice about it. So Blaize, what drives you to keep moving forward as a snowboarder?
Blaize: Well, I try to keep up with the rest of the guys at Boyne.

Blaize Mason is one of the most progressive snowboarders in northern Michigan. At the tender age of 15, he has already practiced front flips and 540's, something that riders four or five years older than him cannot do. He undoubtedly will only get better, and soon he will be one of the best snowboarders in northern Michigan.

SnowForum: Sounds about right. So what would you like to say to all of the fresh faces that are just trying snowboarding for the first time?

Blaize: Well, what I've got to say to the girl snowboarders is, push yourself but don't hurt your face. And guys, they're just wooses and they need to push themselves harder.

SnowForum: All right, thank you Blaize. Now, that's pretty much all of the questions that we have except for our questions from readers, that we have, a reader Tim, via email, asks you this question: Dear Blaize, you are the dopest, I saw the way that you were cheated out of the latest local boarding contest. Those judges have no sense of the true essence of snowboarding. Anyway, I want your advice on what size board I should get. I have no clue on how to size myself as I live in Iowa and have never ridden a snowboard in my life. I'm 5'4" tall and weigh 110 lbs.

SnowForum: All right, thank you. Tim will probably get a lot of help from that. So, Blaize, the last question that I would like to ask you is that you're known for you're 360's with the occasional grab or even the porn star thrown in. We know how much you like to porn star. How do you do that?

Blaize: Well, what goes through my mind is you gotta get you're whole body into it, especially you're head.You're head is the main part. You're head makes it around you're body and then you're board will follow. And then when you're trying to do grabs and porn stars, try to do them somewhere in the middle of the rotation, kinda flow into it just don't try to grab [the snowboard] and spin because that will look really choppy.

Blaize: Well Tim, y'know, that was pretty dope that the judges knocked me out of the competition, especially when I was doing a 360 porn star. They just don't know the meaning. But, anyways, your question. I would suggest that you get a 142 [cm] or 143 [cm] depending on what you're wanting to do, spins, flips, freeriding. If you're freeriding you might want to get a little bit bigger of a board. Probably a 143 will do you good. You want to keep it between your chin and your nose.
