5.7.2004- Two Man Advantage in trouble with Zamboni Company
On Monday, April 19th the Wall Street Journal wrote an article entitled "Dropping The Gloves, Picking Up Guitars, Call It Puck Rock." The article featured Two Man Advantage and the history of hockey related songs and mentioning Two Man's song "Zamboni Driving Maniac" by name. This article was picked up and run all over North America which should be a good thing, right? Wrong.
The Los Angeles Times reports in todays edition (April 22) that the Zamboni Company is not happy at all and is considering legal action. "We're taking a look at that with our trademark attorney," said Paula Jensen, a spokeswoman for the company, which also markets Zamboni memorabilia. Part of the company's concern, Jensen said, is whether the song "implies an unsafe activity." Part of what is upsetting the Zamboni Co. is the fact that the song has been played in hockey arenas all over North America.
The lyrics to "Zamboni Driving Maniac" go like this:

Before and after and in between,
One man's mission, the ice he'll clean.
He's fueled by hockey, fueled by beer.
Run you down if you get near.

According to the band, "I don't know wether to laugh or cry. The song is obviously satirical and is meant as a tribute to the Zamboni."
Two Man Advantage's name comes from the hockey term that refers to a team whose opponent has two players in the penalty box. On stage the bands wears matching black and white hockey uniforms and their shows sometimes resemble unruly crowds at a hockey game. Two Man Advantage is currently in the studio recording a new full length to be released by Go-kart Records in the fall. For more information go to www.GokartRecords.com or www.TwoManAdvantage.com
12.12.2003- Go-Kart Records joins the Kazaa revolution
NY-based Go-Kart Records teams up with Altnet and Kazaa to present the brand new “Downloading Is Not A Crime”-Compilation.
Go-Kart Records has been very vocal in our criticism of the RIAA's decision to sue individuals. This new compilation is our latest salvo and it is different from anything we have done before.
"Downloading Is Not A Crime" is only available online, it is a 32 song sampler that is absolutely free and 100% RIAA safe. Along with the music, we have included a booklet and traycard as a PDF file that people can download and cut out if they want to make a conventional CD. We have also included the Go-kart Magazine, a PDF magazine that contains writings from us as well as from many other magazines and organizations from all over the world.
If you wonder how you can download our compilation the answer is simple. Go to http://www.kazaa.com and download the latest version of their multimedia desktop, install it and launch the application. You will be able to find our “Downloading is Not A Crime” compilation in Kazaa’s “Audio”-Section.
If you like the bands you hear on this compilation, please go and support them, buy their records and see them live. Let's prove to everyone that downloading can help artists and not hurt them! Also, you can order all the albums directly from us using our online store.
As you might remember, this is not the only action we here at Go-Kart Records have taken to oppose the measures taken by the RIAA. To help draw attention to our "Open Letter To RIAA" we offered people the opportunity to download six of our newest releases in their entirety. To date, over 120,000 songs have been downloaded. This is what shows us that we are on the right path.

9.24.2003- THE CONTROL CANCELS TOUR
At THE CONTROL's record release show (the 4th show of their 3 week tour) last week in Buffalo, NY, the cops showed up during their 3rd song and broke up the show. Because of events that occurred at that show, the Control have been forced to cancel the rest of their already booked tour.
Go-Kart apologizes for any inconvenience caused and will keep you up to date with the future plans for THE CONTROL.
9.22.2003- GUFF JUST CAN'T STOP TOURING!
(All stories today courtesy of Go-Kart Records.)
GuFF's brand of punk rock is a fast as fuck blend of melody and speed with no tricks or gimmicks to speak of. Based in their hometown of Athens, GA since 1999, they have played over 500 shows across the U.S. and Canada. This rigorous touring schedule has earned the band tons of great friends who they've shared stages with, like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bigwig, Sum 41, Flogging Molly, Dynamite Boy, and Citizen Fish to name just a few.
And as the following tour dates indicate they have no plans to slow down any time soon. The more time that passes, the harder they work and the faster they rock! So, you better check them out.
Release of the new Control CD “Glasseye” postponed
Contrary to recent announcements we had to change the official street date for the new Control release “Glasseye”. The album will be hitting the stores on October 7th. And it is definitely worth checking out. “Glasseye”, The Control’s first full-length effort, is once again filled with themes of frustration, paranoia, denial, and resolution. Backboned by driving, relentless hardcore, the album is a triumph of self-realization.
Regardless of the postponement of the actual release date of “Glasseye”, their tour kicks off on September 14th lasting through October 5th.
46 SHORT put finishing touches on their Go-kart debut!
Do you remember the good old days when bands like Adolescents, The Weirdos and Black Flag were playing and punk was new, exciting and jam-packed with energy? Well, we really don't remember those days too well ourselves, but luckily 46 Short is here to bring it back (not that they remember it either but...). Featuring members of Final Conflict, 46 Short plays punk rock the old-fashioned way - loud, fast and snotty! From the fertile punk rock breeding grounds of Los Angeles, this combo will want to make you pogo and slam like it was 1978. But make no mistake. The influences may be vintage, but this is not a museum piece. 46 Short plays music that knows the past, fills the present, and will still sound real tomorrow. Their debut full length "Just A Liability" will be released in December. And no, we don't know what the name 46 Short means.
8.21.2003- EXPLODING HEARTS BEATING NO MORE
There was a tragedy this summer. One of the best new bands out there right now has suffered a tremendous loss. Apparently, the band, all aged between 19 & 22, had some label interest coming from Lookout! and a few others. They went down to San Francisco to play a showcase and everything seemed great. That would all change when the band began its trek back home to Portland. Somewhere in Northern California, the driver lost control and their van flipped over and killed one member on the scene. Two others died in the hospital later that night. One member and their manager/publicist were injured but survived. My heart goes out to those who knew them personally and loved them..... This is a great loss in the world of rock n roll.

1.12.2003- ARREST IN GITS MURDER
Back in 1993, the Seattle punk band THE GITS were planning a European tour and things were starting to look really good for their career. This all changed one day when their lead singer and major songwriter Mia Zapata was found dead. She had been strangled by the string in her hoodie and laid down in a crucifixion type pose. Both her arms were spread out and her legs were crossed at the ankles. For almost a decade the case has gone unsolved and even appeared on an episode of the popular TV show "Unsolved Mysteries." Finally, after nine long years, they have made an arrest by matching DNA evidence from the case to a convict in Florida through the national DNA database. You can read a more in depth report on this case at the following link: http://www.msnbc.com/news/858134.asp?0cm=c20&cp1=1. That's all for now....
1.9.2003- RIVERDALES REFORM!!!
Finally some good news to post here!! The short-lived two album side project of Ben Weasel, Vapid and Panic has gotten back together and already has about 20 or so songs written for some new recordings. Dan Panic is not part of this reunion and is being replaced by Lumley whom I know you all have heard of. He played on a couple of those final SCREECHING WEASEL albums. There's no plans to tour just yet and no idea who's gonna actually put this new stuff out, but I'm just glad to know that they're trying it again and Weasel and Vapid are working together again!! You can check out Benweasel.com or TheRiverdales.com for more info on this reunion. That's all for now, and let's hope that 2003 continues to bring us good news like this......
10.31.2002- JAM MASTER JAY SHOT AND KILLED
Shocking news from Queens, NY... Legendary DJ JAM MASTER JAY was found dead at his studio in New York last night after two men entered and began shooting everywhere. Jay was shot in the head and killed instantly, while a rapper he was working with was shot in the leg. No others were harmed at the scene. JAM MASTER JAY was the man behind the turntables for the pioneering rap group RUN DMC. They are credited with bringing rap to a mainstream audience with their non-violent, positive messages. They were the first rap group I ever heard and I loved it. They were and still are very influential on the whole hip hop community. JAM MASTER JAY is definitely a legend that will be missed dearly. "Turntables might wobble, but they won't fall down!!!"
6.28.2002- JOHN ENTWISTLE DEAD AT 57
Wow, I'm starting to feel like this is the Rock N Roll obituary section..There's been way too many deaths in music recently. The latest victim is WHO founder/bassist John Entwistle. THE WHO were one of the most influential rock n roll bands of all time. THE RAMONES sited them many times as being an inspiration. THE WHO'S influence can be heard throughout punk rock and garage rock today. If "My Generation" was written today, it would definitely be considered a garage rock or punk rock song. John Entwistle was one of the best bass players in rock n roll ever. His bass lines were untouchable and incredibly unique. He will be missed. JOHN ENTWISTLE (1944-2002)
6.7.2002- DEE DEE RAMONE FOUND DEAD AT 49
Founding father of the influential punk band the RAMONES, Dee Dee Ramone AKA Douglas Colvin, was found dead in his Los Angeles home wednesday evening. He was 49 years old. His wife Barbara walked in and found him on the couch dead at about 8:30pm. Authorities found various drug paraphernalia in the home. They suspect a drug overdose is to blame. Dee Dee battled drug addiction and alcoholism throughout his life. He will be sorely missed. Dee Dee was the Ramones' principal song writer and a very energetic performer. He was also my favorite Ramone. R.I.P. Dee Dee. For more info, go to his website
www.deedeeramone.net or to the RAMONES official site officialramones.com.

6.25.2001- ANOTHER FALLEN HERO
This has not been a very good year for Rock N Roll. We've already lost one of the original punk rockers, Joey Ramone, and now we've lost one of the original rock n rollers....JOHN LEE HOOKER. HOOKER died at the age of 83 in his home last Thursday, June 21st of natural causes. JOHN LEE HOOKER was one of the original Delta Blues men. It is because of him and the other blues men of his time that we've got rock n roll and punk in the first place. He inspired bands like the ROLLING STONES who in turn inspired bands like the RAMONES who have inspired us all. We owe much of what we listen to today to JOHN LEE HOOKER...(1917-2001)
5.19.2001- 1951-2001 IT'S JOEY'S 50TH BIRTHDAY!
If you have to read this article to know who the hell I'm talking about, hit the back button on your browser and don't stop until you get back to the Blink 182 page you were just looking at because you are really out of place here. Joey Ramone would be celebrating his 50th birthday today, but tragically he fell victim to cancer this past Easter sunday. Family and friends are throwing him a birthday party in his honor, as they promised him they would, tonight at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. The only band I know of performing is the INDEPENDENTS from South Carolina whom Joey managed for several years. They are keeping most performers a secret as to eliminate fans of the performers from showing up and not allowing RAMONES fans to be able to get tickets. Hope you can make it out. I wish I could. So, lift up your glass of your most preferred beverage and drink one for JOEY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOEY!!!!!!!!
5.14.2001- JOEY'S 50TH PARTY
This saturday, May 19th, there will be a 50th birthday party for JOEY RAMONE at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. The tickets are $15 and are probably all sold out by now. The only band that I know is gonna be there is the ever so great INDEPENDENTS who were managed by JOEY. They're not releasing too much info because they want RAMONES fans there, not fans of the performers..I wish I could make it.
4.16.2001- JOEY RAMONE DIES AT 49
This is the most tragic and unexpected news I have ever heard. Joey and the rest of the RAMONES started up a high energy punk scene in New York City over 25 years ago. Their music continues to influence a number of bands today. They went their seperate ways in 1996 after 22 years of constant touring and putting out several great albums. There is a huge hole in the punk scene right now due to this horrific tragedy. A true hero has fallen victim to one of the most unforgiving diseases on this planet. He will be always remembered for his great talents. GABBA GABBA!!! Joey Ramone (1951-2001)
