Religion is a fundamental aspect of daily life for most creatures of Annwn,
be they good or evil. Though the gods may not walk the earth today as they
did in earlier ages (and may we all be eternally greatful for that), they
nontheless wield a heavy hand in mortal events. Just as the powers
of a deity's priesthood are dependent upon the power of their diety, so too
are the god's powers upon this plane dependent upon their worshippers.
Each god has a particular portfolio which they espouse. Gods typically draw strength from mortals following these porfolios. A god of murder, for example, would grow more powerful from the deaths of mortals in his name, while a god of nature would grow in strength as more mortals came to venerate and respect the natural world. Gods of opposing portfolios are almost always bitter enemies, and their fueds are carried into the mortal realms by their followers. Be warned, there are few things on this realm as dangerous as a holy war between opposing faiths. There are two main groups of deities worshipped on Annwn. These are the universal deities and the patron or racial dieities.
