Moonlight caresses the falling leaves
Torchlight illuminates the winding path
As the Eldar move toward the sea
Cloaked in blue, green, and gray
A plethora of faces
Delicate
Beautiful
Strong
Immortal
Soft music fills the air
As flutes play and voices sing
Signaling their departure
To the creatures of Middle Earth
A tapestry of sound woven
Throughout the air
Their melody calls to me
And my lips move silently
Mouthing words from
My childhood
A song from the Masters of Lore:
“Grey Sea, Blue sky
Tall ships to whom I cry.
Farewell! To the sons
And daughters
Of the Eldar King
We sing endlessly
For the day
We may join you
and share the happiness we bring
Until our reunion
We guard these shores
From creatures foul and fell.
The three - safe in our keeping
Never will the darkness
touch our people for the powers
are great from our Rings
We await word from Heaven
That our exile has been
Forgiven
And we may return
To dwell again with
The Lords of the West
And of the beauties of Valinor
we shall then sing
Yet, our foresight tells us
Our quest is unfinished
The fate of the Noldor
Is unwritten
Our might is undefeated
And We remain in Middle Earth
To protect
Our Havens
Our Homes
Our Keep
Our Kin.”
As I watch them pass by
I yearn for the time that
I might too return to Valinor
My soul cries out to be with my Kin
Yet, my heart knows that
My last task here in Middle Earth
Is about to begin.
Soon, noreilye
(my family)
we shall be together again
As I turn my steed back onto the road
I tighten my grip in the reigns and
Turn her towards the South and East
Toward the impending sunrise
And the tingilindi
(twinkling stars)
Of Lindon.
