Hi welcome to my G.I Joe archive page. This page contains the history of G.I. Joe starting from its beginnings in 1983 up to present day G.I. Joe.

G.I Joe first arrived on the U.S shop shelves in 1983, while at the same time in the U.K The European version of the figures called Action Force was released.

The Action Force figures were different from the G.I Joe figures in so much that their joints were articulated in the same way as the vintage Star Wars figures.

The Action Force figures were split in to various groups these included Z Force, Q Force, SAS and the enemy figures called Red Shadows.

1. Baron Ironblood 2. Black Major 3. Muton 4. Red shadow 5. Kraken 6. Escape armour and Red shadow 7. Laser Exterminator and Red laser 8. Shadowtrack and Red vulture 9. Hyena and Red Jackal 10. RoboSkull and Red Wolf.

By about 1984 the first of the G.I Joe figures made it to the U.K and Action Force began to be slowly phased out in favour of the more popular G.I Joe figures. The first G.I Joe figures to go on sale did not have swivel arm joints these were not added till 1984, or heads with ball joints these were added in 1985.
