The film proved to be a flop for Disney, and at the time the toy range proved the same for Mego. The toy range began it's release at the end of the 1970's and was to be one of last toy ranges that Mego made. By 1980 the company was almost at an end, as a result of this many of the toys listed in the toy catalogues for 1980 were never made. The most popular of the black hole toys were the 3 3/4" figures like the Sentry figure and Maximillian.

The 3 3/4" figures were released in several waves. One of the final batches of figures to be released consisted of the rare Old B.O.B figure, and the S.T.A.R figure.

The complete set of the 3 3/4" figures consisted of 12 figures most of these are very hard to find now. The figures had a lot of detail on them but had parts that were easily lost or broken, and example of this was V.I.N.Cents Guns which were prone to snapping off. All of the figures except V.I.N.Cent, B.O.B and Maximillian had very good articulation. Maximillian had very limited movement which was a bit disappointing given the size of the figure.
