What is it!?
Before I explain any more about Smeargle, you must understand what the attack sketch does. In simple, sketch is like mimic. However, instead of copying the move temporarily, it will 'sketch' (know) the move forever! Here's the catch, though. Sketch copies the last move that your opponent used. This means that Smeargle has to survive being hit by whichever move you want to copy. I will explain how to do this in detail in the "My Smeargle" section further down on this page.
Strategy:
Here is the basic strategy for using a Smeargle. First of all, when you encounter it in the wild, make sure it is at level 20, not 22. Secondly, DO NOT let it use sketch when you battle it. I suggest that you make it nap with sleep powder. The reason for this is so when you catch it, Smeargle will have the attack sketch. When you manage to capture it in your pokeball, make sure to use sketch (it's only attack when you get Smeargle) before you raise it to level 21. This way, it will learn sketch again (remember that a pokemon can only know one of an attack).

My Smeargle
I have a Smeargle that in my mind is very well trained. Right now it is at level 51 and knows 4 VERY good attacks. Now you must remember that a Smeargle's stats are very low. This is because it has the potential to learn every attack in Pokemon Gold/Silver. My Smeargles stats are as follows:
-HP: 152
-Attack: 58
-Defense: 94
-S. Attack:60
-S. Defense: 102
-Speed: 112
Attacks:
-Cross Chop
-Aero Blast

I will tell you what the ?'s are if I get a lot of votes on my site (it's a VERY good combination that is guarenteed to win).
