Sequence of Science Courses at Mission
Whether students elect to take the honors or the college prep science sequence at Mission High School, they will have enough science to meet university science requirements (3 or 4 years). The main difference is that students in the Honors track have more opportunity to complete more Advanced Placement courses. AP courses may be used for credit at some universities, if students successfully complete the necessary SAT II examinations. It is NOT necessary to complete AP courses before entering college. In fact, many colleges severely limit the AP credit they will allow. It is FAR more important that students receive "A's" or "B's" in their science courses, than whether they have taken the Honors and AP classes through high school. Students who do not take Honors Science will still have an opportunity to take some AP science classes if he or she desires. Non-honors science students also have an excellent opportunity to enter fine universities.
