>From: Roderick Edgar >Newsgroups: rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5,alt.tv.babylon-5 >Subject: Re: Babylon 5: The Movie >Date: Wed, 12 Jul 95 17:48:48 GMT Hypothetical situation time. It's now five years since the final episode of the highly acclaimed "cult" TV series Babylon 5 hit our screens. The massive following this series has generated over the past 10 years has finally culminated in the announcement, by Warner Brother executives, that plans are afoot for a big-screen adaptation of the series. The next decade will see the release of five feature films, which will detail the story of the last of the Babylon stations. However, speculation is rampant over who will star. Of course, everyone will remember the tragedy that befell the original cast of the series when, at the final season wrap party, a teddy-bear with the letters J.S. embroidered on it was presented to the show's producer. Now residing at the Jackson Institute for the Mentally Distressed, J. Michael Straczynski made this comment regarding the intended films... "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......." So, just who will star in these forthcoming blockbusters? Early reports, from new producer Rick Berman, suggest that we should expect the unexpected.... SINCLAIR: Leslie Nielsen IVANOVA: Kathleen Turner GARIBALDI: Bruce Willis (cast against type) WINTERS: Cybill Shepherd FRANKLIN: Denzel Washington DELENN: Meryll Streep G'KAR: Robert DeNiro LONDO: Harvey Keitel KOSH: Quentin Tarantino VIR: Marlon Brando (responsible for 2/3rds of the budget) LENNIER: Tom Cruise KEFFER: Brad Pitt And in the second feature.... SHERIDAN: Jim Carrey It is rumoured that Marlon Brando will play dual roles in the film. Centauri diplomatic attache Vir Cotto, and the B5 station itself. Exclusive to this report, here is an excerpt from the casting session. NIELSEN: Oh no, trouble. We've got to try and escape through the jump-gate. TURNER: What is it? NIELSEN: It's an interdimensional portal in space which provides rapid transport to any location, but that's not important right now. A director has not yet been selected, although Stanley Kubrick, Ridley Scott, Terry Gilliam and Mel Brooks have all been linked with the project. Warner Brothers are hoping for high returns next summer, when B5 opens against another sci-fi epic STAR TREK XV - Just So Very Tired. :-) Rod --- ******************************************************************************** * Roderick Edgar, Dumfries, Scotland, U.K.: rod@rodedgar.demon.co.uk * *"That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
