Anakin Skywalker

Anakin Skywalker Born on Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker was a child destined for greatness. His dreams could not be realized, however, until the age of nine. Untill that point, Anakin Skywalker had lived his life as a slave to a Toydarian named Watto, who realized Anakin's talent in racing and entered him in podraces. Although Anakin was the only human ever to race, and at nine years old at that, he had never won or even finished an entire race. However, one thing remained clear to his mother Shmi Skywalker: there was something special about this boy.

Then one day, a Jedi Knight named Qui-Gon Jinn, who was protecting Queen Amidala of Naboo, arrived on Tatooine, and discovered Anakin in Watto's Junk Shop. Anakin met Amidala as well, instantly knowing that he would one day marry her. During a sandstorm, the party was invited by the young boy to stay at his house untill the storm passed. It was there that Qui-Gon realized how strong this boy was with the Force, and that a boy so powerful should not be a slave on Tatooine, but a Jedi Padawan.

Anakin Skywalker was entered in the Boonta Eve Race the following day, using a podracer that Watto never knew he had built. In secret, Qui-Gon offered Watto a deal: If Anakin won, he was no longer a slave. Watto agreed.

Anakin was hard-pressed to win against opponents like Sebulba, but miraculously he won. He left Tatooine, his slave life, and his mother behind, vowing that he would return to free her.

Qui-Gon met with the Jedi Council, reporting the encounter he had had with what he beleived was a Sith Lord. Afterwords he also explained that he beleived he had found the prophesised Chosen One, who in the prophecies would bring balance to the Force. He requested that Anakin be brought before the Council.

After meeting Anakin, and testing him, the Council agreed that although Anakin was indeed very strong in the Force, and in fact could be the Chosen One, his future remained clouded. "Grave danger I fear in his training," were the words of Master Yoda. It was decided that, for the time being, Anakin not be trained.

However, upon once more encountering the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn was killed. It was the Jedi Master's dying request that the boy be trained, and so Yoda agreed to let Qui-Gon's apprentice, Obi-Wan, train Anakin (for his efforts in defeating the Sith, Obi-Wan was also awarded the rank of Jedi Knight.)

Ten years later, Obi-Wan and Anakin were asked to aid Padme Amidala once more. After two attempts on her life, Amidala was asked to return to Naboo with Anakin, where it would be safe for her. The two began to fall in love on Naboo, something forbidden for a Jedi, but they decided that they couldn't do anything about it for it would destroy them.

One night on Naboo, Anakin had another of the dreams that had been haunting his sleep recently: It was his mother, in immense pain. This dream, however, was more vivid and clear than any of the others he'd had prior, so he felt that it must be a revelation of the Force. He and Padme traveled to Tatooine. Upon his arrival, he met Cliegg Lars, who had a few years earlier fallen in love with Shmi, freed her, and married her. Cliegg told Anakin that Shmi had been captured by a band of Tusken Raiders, and that there was nothing anyone could do as they were so vicious. Anakin hopped on Cliegg's swoop bike and rode off into the desert.

At last he found the Tusken Raider camp, and using his lightsaber, he broke into the tent where his mother was imprisoned. Beaten and bloody, and nearly dead, he untied his mother and held her in his arms. The two exchanged just a few words before Shmi died in his arms. Filled with sadness and sorrow, but more than anything rage, Anakin burst from the tent, and slaughtered every Tuskin in the camp, sparing neither woman nor child.

Anakin later confessed to Padme his actions, showing remorse but at the same time hatred. Just after Shmi's burial, Anakin received a message from Obi-Wan. The message was interupted as battle droids walked into the holopicture, and Obi-Wan was captured.

Anakin and Padme flew to Geonosis, but eventually were captured. The two were to be put to death in an arcane arena, and just before they were wheeled into the center, Anakin and Padme declared their eternal love for eachother.

Miraculously, the Jedi Knights came to their aid, and Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan went to hunt down Count Dooku. During an intense lightsaber duel, Anakin lost his arm, which was later replaced with a mechanical one.

Upon returning to Naboo to return Padme home, the two secretly married, with only a Naboo holy man and R2-D2 and C-3PO present. It is not known what finally pushed Anakin to turn to the Dark Side and become Darth Vader, but it will be revealed in Episode III.
