LOIS NETTLETON
"Midnight Sun”
Watching a drenched Lois Nettleton suffer through a nightmare of hellish heat in silky lingerie is like some bizarre everymans fantasy. Beautiful women and sweat is going to be erotic in any combination. Miss Nettleton must have the Guinness record for sweat on camera by an actress. She has the record for getting our sympathy among the characters here. Trapped in a burning nightmare and living in an ice world of doom, there is no hope for the lovely forlorn artist. As she lays unconscious tossing and turning in a dying city on a dying planet, we think perhaps she is lucky. It is a dismal epithet, yet par for the T-Zone course. Rod Serling painted few happy endings and “The Midnight Sun” is as melancholy as they come. The photo says it all. In the glistening face of Lois Nettleton, I see great beauty, poetry, and despair. She is so lovely and so doomed.
